About the Scream franchise
The Scream franchise reinvented the slasher genre by pairing brutal whodunit killings with self-awareness. The first film was released in 1996. The first four films in the franchise were directed by Wes Craven. The films featured several actors and characters, but Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox are the only cast members to feature in all films to date.
The first four films, as well as the seventh, centre on Sidney Prescott as she is hunted by a series of killers hiding behind the Ghostface mask. Throughout her ordeal, she is supported by allies including Dewey Riley, Gale Weathers, Randy Meeks and Kirby Reed, alongside a shifting circle of friends and partners.

The fifth and sixth instalments shift focus to Samantha Carpenter and her sister Tara, who are targeted because of their ties to the original murders. Joined by Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin and several returning survivors, they face a new generation of Ghostface killers.
Paramount Pictures India is set to release Scream 7 in cinemas on February 27, 2026.
