Mohammed al-Hindi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement, said the proposed Peace Council — officially known as the “Board of Peace” in Gaza — was “a theatrical show” that had failed to stop Israel from continuing a war of genocide in the enclave, Middle East Monitor reported.
In press remarks on Tuesday, al-Hindi said the council, chaired by US President Donald Trump, had adopted what he called the Israeli occupation’s agenda and was concerned only with guaranteeing Israel’s security.
He added that statements by US Ambassador Mike Huckabee exposed Washington’s clear bias towards Israel.
Al-Hindi said it would have been more appropriate for the US administration to issue a clear condemnation and a direct apology over the ambassador’s remarks.
He argued that the Israeli occupation, not the weapons of the resistance, was the main cause of instability in the region.
