Ismail Darbar Breaks Silence On Forcing His Second Wife To Convert, Says Youngest Son Puts ‘Tilak’

Famous music composer, Ismail Darbar, is known for his superhit composition for filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali. However, his personal life has been in the headlines as he got married for the second time, and his second wife was a Hindu before marriage, and her real name was Preeti. Later, she converted to Islam after marrying Ismail Darbar. 

Ismail Darbar opened up about his second marriage to Ayesha

Recently, in an interview with Subhojit Ghosh, Ismail Darbar revealed how his second wife, Ayesha, stood with him during the toughest phase of his life. He also revealed that his youngest son from his second wife, follows both Hindu and Muslim rituals. In a podcast with Subhojit Ghosh, Ismail talked about how 20 years of his life were the toughest, but his wife bore it with him. He said:

“20 years of my life have been very tough. But I salute Ayesha for bearing it with me. In fact, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was so close to my family that he told me that I am saved just because of my wife, and if it was not for her, I would have been finished.”

Ismail Darbar, who often gets accused of forcing his second wife to convert to his religion, revealed that their son follows both the Hindu and Muslim religions. He stated that after one year of his marriage, his son was born, and Bhansali named him Imaan, and he also has a Hindu name, ‘Maan’. Ismail Darbar revealed that when Imaan goes to his grandparents’ home, he performs puja and puts a tilak on his forehead. He added that he had taught him to respect the religion he was born into and all the other religions. He shared:

“After one year of my marriage, my son was born and Bhansali named him, Imaan. And his Hindu name is Maan. When he goes to his maternal grandparents’ home, he’s called Maan there. He also stands in the pooja, puts tilak on his forehead. I have taught him to respect the religion in which he is born, but also respect all the other religions.”

Ismail Darbar opened up about the claims of cheating on his first wife 

In an earlier interview with Vickey Lalwani, Ismail Darbar denied the cheating allegation and stated that he never cheated on his first wife. He revealed that one day they had a fight, and after which, he called Ayesha and went for a drive. After an hour of the long drive, he stopped the car and asked her to marry him. She said ‘yes’. Ismiail Darbar revealed that he didn’t know that Ayesha was already engaged to a wealthy man. He was quoted as saying:

“One day, after we had had an argument, I called Ayesha and we went for a drive. After an hour, I stopped the car and asked her to marry me. She said yes. To be very frank, I started developing feelings for her. I had no idea at the time that she was engaged to a wealthy man. She had a bright future ahead of her. She would hang on to my every word; she thought I was a great music director. She became too attached to me after these heart-to-heart conversations.”

Ismail revealed that after Ayesha accepted his marriage proposal, he called his mother and told her that he was getting married again. Ismail confessed that he still lives with his first wife, Farzana, but back then, their differences were at a peak, and he had actually left and was living in a different house for two months. However, he didn’t let her know anything about his second marriage.
