Among other questions, he was asked about the “elephant in the room”, that is, whether he met Katy Perry or not. In turn, the 18-year-old confirmed the same and gave a refreshingly simple reply. He revealed that they have met and he finds her to be a “cool” person. In his words:

“She’s cool, she’s nice.”

But the topic did not end there. Xavier, who is passionate about music, revealed that he and the California Gurls singer bonded over the same. He explained that he had long conversations regarding his music. Given Katy’s successful career in music, she offered him some advice and possible next steps. His comments hinted that his father, Justin Trudeau, did not just introduce Katy to his kids, but she also engaged with them and offered her guidance. In turn, Xavier described their bond as natural and supportive.

Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry’s romance first sparked rumours in the summer of 2025 when the couple was seen going on a dinner date at Le Violon in Montreal during Perry’s Lifetime Tour. A few days later, the former Canadian PM was seen singing along to her hit Firework at her concert, fueling speculation. Eventually, they made their first official public appearance as a couple in October 2025 at the Crazy Horse cabaret in Paris while celebrating Perry’s 41st birthday. However, it was in December 2025 that Perry made things Instagram official. She shared a carousel of photos and videos from a Japan trip, including cozy selfies and clips of the two dining together. According to a source by People:

“He was consistent with his efforts. He’s shown her over and over again that he genuinely wants to see her. He’s flown all over the world to spend time with her while she’s been touring. She likes spending time with him.”
