Suzanne Shaw has bravely opened up about her heart-breaking split from fiancé Sam Greenfield following 12 years together.
The former Hear’Say vocalist, aged 44, took to Instagram with a candid video message, visibly emotional as she addressed her followers.
She said: “I don’t even know where to start with this post. I’ve not been online for a little whilst because I’ve just been navigating some stuff in my life which is a break up that I’m going through at the moment. I genuinely did not expect I’d be saying this out loud… it’s been tough, it’s been really tough. I wasn’t actually going to say anything online, I wasn’t going to address this at all.”

“But I thought that the nature of my account is all about mental health – my struggles with my mental health, quitting alcohol, changing my lifestyle, taking up running… all of the things that have brought me stability.”
Suzanne – who became a household name when Hear’Say triumphed on Popstars in 2001 – chose not to divulge specific reasons behind the separation but confirmed to supporters that the relationship ended in January.
She continued: “It’s been tricky but my goodness, thank god I’ve got the tools to navigate this. Thank god it’s been six years of not drinking, six years of dedicating my life to my personal development.”
“I’ve not been perfect through this and it’s been a little bit messy but I’ve certainly been able to tap into therapy and meditation, running, understanding that I need to eat well and that I need to just lean into this pain and heal. And it is a new chapter of deep healing now because I’m going into the era of having the greatest love affair with myself.”
Discussing why she chose to speak publicly about the separation, she explained: “It was important for me to share this to close one chapter to move into the next. I’ve not known what to say since the start of January.”
“But here I am, nearly in March, ready to go on this journey of total true self healing and giving myself the highest quality of love that I should’ve done a long time ago.”
Supporters flooded the comments section with messages of encouragement, with one follower remarking: “You are right in saying this is a chapter, the next one will be different.”
A second added: “Sometimes people prefer the broken versions of us and begrudge the healed version but their loss. Hope you’re ok and doing as well as you can be.”

Suzanne and Sam became engaged in 2014 following a whirlwind 12-month relationship, and their son Rafferty arrived in 2015. The former pop sensation is also mother to 21 year old Corey, whom she shares with ex-partner Darren Day.
