Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of TODAY co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, has been missing for 26 days, and there’s still no clue about her whereabouts. She was last seen on the late evening of January 31, 2026, and was reported missing from her Catalina Foothills home in Tucson, Arizona, the next morning. Since then, what began as a suspected abduction case has culminated in one of the biggest manhunts in the country, with over 100 law enforcement officials actively searching for her.

A chilling new surveillance footage has surfaced from the night of Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping, along with reports of a man reportedly detained outside her home late Thursday night.

Man arrested after driving past Nancy Guthrie’s home an unusual number of times

As per the latest reports, the cops detained an unidentified man from Nancy Guthrie’s neighborhood in the late hours of Thursday, February 26, 2026, after he allegedly drove past the missing woman’s residence around “50 to 100 times”. According to TMZ, a photographer on the scene reportedly found his behavior suspicious and claimed to have seen a photo of Guthrie on the man’s phone before alerting authorities.

Law enforcement officials took the driver into custody for questioning, later arresting him for DUI after he failed a field sobriety test. Regarding the man’s connection to Nancy’s kidnapping, however, the officials have yet to confirm any link.

The whole country has been actively trying to find new leads into Nancy Guthrie’s investigation at this point. With the elderly woman’s neighbors patrolling the locality for possible new tips, a newly released Ring doorbell footage from a nearby home has raised new questions.

The surveillance video that the neighbor shared online was allegedly recorded in the early hours of February 1, 2026, between 12:30 a.m. and 6 a.m., believed to be the window when Nancy was taken. The footage captured 12 different vehicles travelling along a back road not far from Nancy’s home. One of the vehicles that had grabbed attention passed at approximately 2:36 a.m., just eight minutes after Nancy’s pacemaker reportedly last synced with her iPhone.

The newly released footage was captured from a doorbell camera just about seven minutes away from Nancy’s residence. Given the timing, people are wondering if this was the abductor’s car with Nancy inside it. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has yet to respond to the matter.

With every unfruitful day passing by, Nancy Guthrie’s neighbors are getting more vocal, coming forward with possible new clues about the locality from the night of her kidnapping. Locals have described seeing multiple unfamiliar individuals lingering in the Catalina Foothills area in the weeks leading up to her disappearance. One resident mentioned seeing a man approximately 5’9″ with a close-trimmed beard and a silver bracelet. Whether or not these leads are being actively investigated remains unknown.

Where the investigation stands now

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department maintains that the investigation remains active with hundreds of personnel assigned, but several reports indicate the case might have reached a dead end. DNA found on a glove recovered two miles from Nancy’s home did not return a match in the FBI’s CODIS database, and investigators have now turned to investigative genetic genealogy (IGG). The officials may hand over Nancy’s home to the Guthrie family soon, and Savannah seems to have already lost hope of finding her mother alive.
