وأفاد رئيس البلدية جوزيبي سالا في تصريح صحفي، أن الضحيتين هما إيطالي في عقده السادس، ومهاجر مقيم في المدينة.

وأشار إلى أن أحدهما قضى عند انحراف الترامواي عن الخطّ، فيما كان الآخر يستقل القطار الكهربائي.

وأضاف أن عناصر الإنقاذ هرعت إلى موقع الحادثة، فيما نقلت سيارات الإسعاف الجرحى الأكثر خطورة إلى المستشفى.
وأشارت التحقيق الأولية أن الحادث وقع عندما تخطى السائق المحطة النهائية للخطّ وقت الحادث، ولم يضغط على زرّ التحويلة.
