Soon after his demise, Trisha and her mother had rushed to Hyderabad to perform his last rites. However, it is unclear whether the last rites took place in Hyderabad or in Chennai. On February 27, 2026, Vijay Thalapthy’s wife, Sangeetha filed for a divorce. It is worth mentioning that Vijay and his wife were together for almost 27 years. In the divorce plea, Sangeetha Sornalingam claimed that Vijay has allegedly been involved in an extramarital relationship with an actress. The petition claimed that Vijay’s alleged affair caused deep emotional pain and trauma to his wife. The hearing in the case is scheduled for April 20, 2026. The petition can be read as:

“The Respondent (Vijay) was involved in an adulterous relationship with an actress. This caused her deep emotional pain and mental suffering, amounting to betrayal and violation of marital trust.”
