Lorraine Kelly’s mum, Anne, didn’t hold back in sharing her opinions on decisions her famous daughter has made in her family life with husband Steve and daughter Rosie

ITV daytime presenter Lorraine Kelly has admitted she “couldn’t resist” treating her daughter Rosie when she was growing up, something her own mum, Anne, didn’t approve of.

Lorraine and Anne opened up about their views on parenthood in a new interview alongside Rosie, 31, who welcomed her first daughter, Billie, in 2024.

Anne confessed to The Telegraph: “I had my opinions about how Lorraine was raising Rosie – giving her too many sweets or toys. She was terrible about giving toys. It wasn’t one Barbie, she’d give her 10.”

Despite her mum’s criticism, Lorraine, 66, said she still hasn’t changed her ways now she’s become a grandmother.

The Scottish TV star, who shares Rosie with husband Steve Smith, giggled as she divulged: “I just couldn’t resist. The best part of being a mum is giving them all the toys you want.

“I’m even worse as a granny. I constantly give Billie space-themed toys because my dad got me interested in space and I’m indoctrinating her too.”

It comes as Rosie has written a book called Mother to Mother, which focuses on motherhood through the ages and is inspired by her own experiences.

The journalist, who shares Billie with her partner, Steve, said she often turns to her mum and grandmother when she needs parenting advice, sharing: “I needed advice from people I trusted.

“My mum and my granny gave me the best. You always go back to mums, they’re the experts.

“When I first gave birth, I was just trying to do it all on my own (and to some degree I still am) but Mum and Granny really taught me to look after myself too.”

Lorraine admitted she still has some guilt around working when Rosie was little, but her daughter was quick to reassure her that she had no reason to worry.

Anne also added some supportive words, telling the star: “And your dad and I were happy to help out with the school races and fetes and things while you were working.”

Lorraine’s father John tragically died in January, with the presenter paying tribute. She penned: “I am mourning the man who bought me a telescope when I was five years old, who watched the moon landings with me and taught me to always be curious and interested in everything.
