‘Secret Stories: Roslin’ Ending Explained: Who Is The Green-Eyed Stalker And Why He Wasn’t Revealed?

The story follows the story of a teenage girl named ‘Roslin’, who goes through nightmares about a green-eyed person. However, when a real human being with green eyes appears before her, she spirals, believing her nightmares have come to life. Nonetheless, who is the ‘green-eyed’ man?

The storyline of Secret Stories: Roslin revolves around a 17-year old girl named ‘Roslin’ who lives with her parents and a brother. They seem to be a very happy family. However, things changed when the happy young girl started seeing a green-eyed man in her nightmares, stalking her. A few days later, when a man named ‘Jerry’ comes in as a paying guest, her nightmares turn into reality. She starts to panic every day and night, thinking that the person will hurt or harm her family.

The mysterious and eerie things started to happen around them ever since he arrived at their place. At the end of the Malayalam series, ‘Roslin’s’ own father and mother betray her. She seems dumbfounded, as she doesn’t understand what is happening. At that moment, ‘Jerry’ describes that he has been keeping a track of the family as ‘Shobha’ (‘Rose’s’ mother) and ‘John’ (‘Rose’s’ father) have been committing grave crimes for years now.

It is at this point that ‘Shobha’ used to work at ‘Roseline’s’ actual mother, ‘Angel’s’ house. ‘Angel’ and ‘Shobha’ used to be good friends, but when ‘Angel’ met with an accident, she left everything in her name to her daughter, ‘Rose’. ‘Shobha’ plans ‘Angel’s’ death and takes the property with the daughter. However, ‘Shobha’ began to plan ‘Rose’s’ death when her own son, ‘Allen’, passed away while trying to save ‘Rose’. ‘Shobha’ and ‘John’ were adamant to kill ‘Roselin’ on her 18th birthday, and being an investigative police officer, ‘Jerry’ took control of the situation and got them arrested by the end of it. 

What happened in Secret Stories: Roslin?

The finale confirms that ‘Roslin’s’ terrifying “green-eyed stalker” was never a real physical threat. However, it is a manifestation of her own deeply repressed guilt over her brother ‘Allen’s’ death. Across the final episode, the narrative violently course-corrects, revealing that ‘Roslin’s’ mind has been selectively editing her reality. While ‘Jerry’ was a calculated predator, he was an ordinary guy caught in the crosshairs of ‘Roslin’s’ failing mental state. However, she projected her trauma onto him, completely blurring the line between her fever-dream nightmares and waking life.

The writers took a massive but calculated risk by making the protagonist an unreliable narrator for 90 per cent of the runtime. Most thrillers use this as a cheap gimmick to trap the audience, but here, it’s a devastating look at grief. When you look back at the series, the plot armour ‘Roslin’ seemingly had against this “stalker” wasn’t plot armour at all, it was her brain aggressively protecting her from her own culpability. The climax doesn’t just flip the narrative; it rewrites every single interaction she had with ‘Jerry’ and her parents.
