It slashed its way to the top

“Scream 7” was No. 1 at the box office on its opener Friday, taking in $28.8 million, according to The Numbers.

The Post called the seventh installment in the slasher flick series — which has Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Matthew Lillard and Courteney Cox reprising their roles — “the horror franchise’s worst movie in 30 years.”

Staying in second place was the animated sports comedy “GOAT,” with $2.6 million in sales on its third Friday in theaters.

ESPN’s NBA analyst Brian Windhorst took to X to praise the film, which Golden State Warriors’ star Stephen Curry executive produced and starred in, and even went so far as to rank it higher than Lakers MVP LeBron James’ “Space Jam 2.”

“I went with my son’s basketball team to see The GOAT movie last weekend, Steph Curry’s movie . . . awesome, awesome . . . with all due to respect to Space Jam 2, GOAT is the goat, that’s all I’m going to say,” Windhorst gushed on Friday.

“Wuthering Heights” moved down two notches to third, with $2.2 million in revenue on its third Friday at the box office.

In fifth was the horror comedy “Send Help,” which took in $758,000.
