She recently made an appearance on the When Reality Hits podcast and openly discussed her disapproval of how boundaries were handled in co-parenting with her ex-husband, Travis Barker, and his current wife. Who is Shanna Moakler?

Shanna Moakler is a former beauty queen, model, actress, and reality television personality. The 50-year-old first rose to national fame after being crowned Miss USA in 1995. Since then, she has pursued a career in modelling and was later named Playboy’s Playmate of the month in December 2001. Apart from beauty pageantry, Shanna has built a successful career for herself in TV. Shanna featured as ‘Officer Monica Harper’ on the late-’90s series, Pacific Blue. 

At the same time, she appeared in films like The Wedding Singer and Big Momma’s House 2. However, it was her stint on MTV’s reality show, Meet the Barkers in the mid-2000s, where she starred with Travis, that made her a household name. It ended in 2006, and since then, she has been active in the entertainment industry through appearances on reality shows such as Celebrity Big Brother and Hollywood Exes. Presently, Shanna runs her own podcast, where she often speaks candidly about her personal life.

Why did Shanna Moakler separate from Travis Barker? 

Shanna Moakler and Travis Barker married in 2004 and welcomed two children, Landon and Alabama. But their bond quickly became volatile. Subsequently, the star drummer filed for divorce in 2006, owing to irreconcilable differences. Some court documents at the time revealed major disagreements over lifestyle and parenting approaches. Shanna later claimed that his alleged infidelity caused the split. 

Although she did not explicitly clarify, speculations suggested that she was referring to Travis Barker and Kim Kardashian’s bond in the post. For those unaware, there were long-standing rumours that Travis Barker and Kim Kardashian dated around that time, or at least hooked up. But there was no confirmation. Later, in his memoir in 2015, Travis mentioned that he had a crush on her, but it was friendly, and they never acted on it.

Meanwhile, Shanna claimed that she received anonymous messages accusing Travis of having an inappropriate relationship. But Travis had denied those claims. Despite their brief reconcile after Travis’ plane crash in 2008, they again separated and filed for divorce. Over the years, both of them have made public accusations against each other, resulting in a tense co-parenting history.

Shanna Moakler’s dynamic with the Kardashians is more complex than what appears on the surface. After the Travis-Kim thing, things became more complex when Travis began dating Kourtney Kardashian in 2021. Eventually, they tied the knot in May 2022. Therefore, Kourtney became stepmother to Shanna and Travis’s children. Simultaneously, she brought her own three children from her previous relationship with Scott Disick into the family. Later, Travis and Kourtney welcomed a son, Rocky, in 2023. Previously, Shanna has often spoken about feeling sidelined when Travis began dating Kourtney. But in her recent podcast, she suggested that the boundaries related to her kids were not respected. In her words:

“If I had your kids, I wouldn’t be doing some of the things you’re doing with my kids. It is what it is.”
