Where is the Eastenders’ star now? Tamzin Outhwaite, 55, is celebrating a new lease of life as a “happily single” mother with a new ‘glow up’ look, but her life was once full of heartbreak.

She was the ultimate EastEnd girl whose dramatic death under the wheels of a lorry left a gaping hole in Albert Square.

But for Tamzin Outhwaite, her real-life drama has been just as dramatic as any soap script. From the betrayal of her ex-husband to becoming a “hero” mum who saved three children from drowning, the 55-year-old says she has finally reached a “milestone” of peace.

Earlier this month, she unveiled the result of a £5,000 ‘no-knife’ facelift and a new life as a happily single mother, Tamzin is proving that the most important second act is the one she’s living for herself.

Now 55, the celebrity is over a year into her new project – filling up “her own cup” by doing everything to make herself happy.

This follows her breakup in December 2024 from ex-boyfriend Tom Child. A significant age difference of 21 years, the 34-year-old Bull star was labelled Tamzin’s “boy toy” throughout their six years together.

Now the actress has told how she is currently “happily single,” telling OK! last December: “There’s a lot on! Life is really busy and throwing a relationship into that is a whole other thing. Freedom fills up my cup, freedom to do as you please is a lovely thing. That makes me happy”.

But the pair remain close, with Tamzin describing him as her “best friend” to Hello!’s Second Act podcast.

She told the podcast: “I didn’t want to never see him again, so we’re mates. Which feels very grown up”.

According to Tamzin, her youngest child has probed the 34-year-old on how he will explain their relationship to others, quizzing him: “How are you going to explain this situation that you come round, you share a dog, you’ve still got two step kids and you’re hanging out with your ex all the time?”

Prior to their split, she had appeared on Lorraine where she defended the age gap, telling viewers: “When you get to this age, you stop caring what people think. I think that’s a really important place to get to, because now the only opinions that matter are my two girls and if they adore him, which they do, that’s all I need”.

A messy divorce

Tamzin previously dated Tom Ellis, an actor known for his leading roles in BBC’s Miranda and Lucifer. Their relationship hit the rocks in 2013 when she reportedly discovered he had an affair with a co-star, and the couple divorced the following year.

In 2023, a defiant Tamzin posted a statement on social media saying: “10 years since the father of my kids walked out on us for the final time. I still meet new people on jobs who reveal more infidelities and lies that he committed. But thankfully my heart and soul are clear and clean and I could not be happier right now.”

Following concern from fans who speculated on the tone of her post, she added: “I was marking the 10 year anniversary with pride, a feeling of triumph & genuine gratitude. I understand it has triggered some people. For anyone struggling, the most important relationship you will ever have is with yourself”.

Hero rescue

In 2022, she lavished praise on Tom, describing him as a “dream stepdad”, after he stepped in when her youngest daughter Beatrice, then nine, fell unwell.

In a tweet, she wrote: “My youngest is ill. My schedule has been manic. My love has done school runs, vet visits, made dinner, packed lunches, cleaned, dog walks, taken the car to mechanics, & generally lightened my load to the max, all with kindness & a smile”.

“For those saying ‘that’s a normal day’ or ‘what every man does’, he also moved to the spare room so I can sleep with my 9 yr old to check her temp & give her meds. He holds her when she is sobbing ‘cos she misses her biological dad & then makes her laugh out loud. #dreamstepdad. My kids sometimes give him a hard time as that’s what kids do to step parents, but deep down they know he is kind, he cares and loves them deeply, and I know how lucky I am. #appreciationpost #stepparentgratitude.”

A year earlier, Tamzin saved three children from drowning at a birthday pool party, after jumping in fully clothed when they got into difficulty. Describing the ordeal, she said: “They were all from the same family, who could not swim & I did not know them. It was traumatic for all but I am just relieved that are all ok”. One witness said: “Tamzin is a hero. She leapt into the water without hesitation. It was very dramatic.”

New look

Earlier this month, Tamzin openly discussed undergoing a course of non-surgical procedures after noticing her face was “sagging” and “dropping”. The 55-year-old former EastEnders star took the decision twelve months ago to seek medical assistance to address her concerns about her changing appearance, which had begun to affect her wellbeing.

Throughout the past year, Tamzin has been receiving a series of non-surgical facelift procedures from one of the capital’s leading aesthetic practitioners. In a frank discussion about her experience, Tamzin has expressed her satisfaction with the “amazing” outcomes, which have significantly boosted her self-assurance whilst remaining aligned with her determination to steer clear of surgical interventions.

Tamzin explained: “When I looked in the mirror and I just could see that my face just never looked as good as it used to. At my age I know it’s hard to avoid this but I’d really started to notice the difference and it was getting me down a bit. I’d also lost some weight and my face looked like it was sagging and dropping, so I decided to do some research on what could be done to improve things.
