Simon Cowell may be left gritting his teeth with a Britain’s Got Talent set “ban” to combat his “incredibly annoying habit”. Producers on the show have reportedly taken measures to stop him chewing gum after leaving his leftovers under his desk.
Bosses now want the 66-year-old to do it elsewhere, but with Simon pretty much in charge, they could have their work cut out to give his chomping the chop. The music mogul was recently said to have been walking around with gum stuck to his black trousers during filming.

“Simon is always chewing gum on set and has left producers with a real headache,” A source told The Sun. “They tried to implement the gum ban, but telling Simon ‘No’ is a task in itself.” The insider said he “didn’t have a clue he had gum stuck to his trousers as he walked out on stage in front of thousands of fans” – and now new measures are said to coming.
Simon accepts he ‘drives everyone mad’ by chewing very loudly. But it is not just him, with Britain’s Got Talent co stars Amanda Holden, 55, Alesha Dixon, 47, and KSI, 32, also told to gum is no longer allowed.
The new series, which began on 21st February, is really heating up. Last night the judges squirming in their seats. Baron and Vesper left the audience covering their eyes as they used a series of hooks in various body parts to spin and fly in the air. At one point in their act, one of them was suspended in the air by hooks fed through the other’s nipples and earlobes.
Co-host Declan Donnelly could be heard saying: “Obviously don’t try this at home, it’s very dangerous,” as a warning flashed up on-screen urging viewers not to copy what they were about to see.
“Even you’re shocked” judge Alesha Dixon pointed out as she turned to KSI who had remained composed until the act escalated and nipples became involved.
As the man with the hooks through him started to approach the judges’ desk with his partner still airborne, Amanda ran away, screaming: “Oh my God he’s coming, he’s coming” barely able to watch the act unfold. “I don’t know what to look at,” KSI added.
Despite the graphic nature of the act, the duo won a standing ovation from the crowd. Co-host Ant McPartlin, watching from the side of the stage, commented: “That’s something we haven’t seen before and we’ve seen almost everything on this show.”
Offering her feedback on the act, judge Alesha said: “I found it difficult to watch, and weird and brilliant,” while Amanda Holden said: “It looked awful in the best way,” saving herself from the crowd’s boos by swiftly adding: “It was horrifically brilliant.”
The pair won a yes from both Amanda and Alesha, while KSI said no. Meanwhile Simon had the deciding vote, throwing it to the audience who cheered enthusiastically, earning them a place in the next round.
