Robbie Williams was worried he might have to pull out of last night’s Brit Awards after a nasty accident on a family holiday with wife Ayda and their four kids
Robbie Williams has revealed he had a nasty accident on a family holiday that could have ruined his performance at last night’s Brit Awards.
Luckily, the Angels singer was able to take to the stage at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester to give a special tribute performance to late heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, who posthumously received the Lifetime Achievement award.
Surprising fans by singing Ozzy’s hit No More Tears, Robbie took on more of a rock persona and impressed fans viewers at home with his rendition of the track that he was personally invited to sing by Ozzy’s wife Sharon Osbourne.
Shared how Ozzy and Robbie were great pals, Sharon said of Robbie: “He’s the most warmest, down to earth person.” She also confessed she sees a number of the same qualities in Robbie as she did her husband of 43 years, who passed away at the age of 76 in July 2025, two weeks after his final performance with his band Black Sabbath.

But former Take That star Robbie almost had to pull out of the show after sharing he suffered an injury while on a skiing trip with wife Ayda Field, 46, and their four children – daughters Teddy, 13, and Coco, seven, and sons Charlie, 11, and Beau, six.
He told The Sun: “I decided not to go up the mountain as I have this gig to do at The Brits and I didn’t want to get hurt. So I made this grown-up decision. And as we were leaving for the airport I completely cut the end of my finger off.”
Fortunately the injury didn’t affect his performance – with many fans praising his tribute to Ozzy alongside musicians that played as part of Ozzy’s band over the years – Adam Wakeman, Robert Trujillo, Tommy Clufetos and Zakk Wylde.
One wrote: “Robbie Williams and Zakk Wyld on the same stage, I can assure you that was not my 2026 bingo card.” Another said: “Love that it was fully live with no auto-tune. Robbie, you smashed it!!”
A third commented: “Nice to see so many of you appreciate Robbie’s performance, not a genre he’s associated with but fair play he did it well. I’ve seen him loads and it’s easy to take the p***, but he’s a great performer and vocally he stepped up. Ozzy woulda loved it I’m sure.”
“I like that he is not trying to sound like Ozzy but does himself,” a fourth said. A fifth wrote: “Robbie Williams did good in my opinion. Tributes don’t always have to be exactly as it was played originally, usually putting their own twist on it. RIP Ozzy, gone but never forgotten.”
While a sixth added: “It was an incredible performance – loved every second! And I love that Zakk was able to have his moment centre stage too. Whatever ‘elitists’ may say, Robbie did an amazing job and had a fantastic voice for it. Not to mention the imagery of Ozzy, and the fact that potentially millions of Robbie fans are now going to find this and hear Ozzy’s music for the first time.”
Just before Robbie’s performance, Sharon and her daughter Kelly Osbourne, 41, accepted the Lifetime Achievement for Ozzy in one of the night’s most emotional moments.
Reducing some members of the audience to tears, Sharon said: “I’m honoured to accept this award for my gorgeous husband. God knows I wish he was here to accept it himself — so you’ve got the booby prize, me doing it. Ozzy was authentic. He was gifted, totally unpredictable, a wild man. He was a true artist.
“He came from a small, working-class neighbourhood in Birmingham, and he rose to become one of the most recognisable and respected musicians of his life.
“His life was filled with extraordinarily wonderful high times, but very, very real low times, but he never stopped tirelessly pushing himself to do better. To be honest with you, he was the most humble egomaniac you could ever meet, and yes, at the end of the day, he will always be a rock star.”
A tearful Sharon continued: “I’m accepting this for Ozzy, but this award goes to his incredible family. It goes to so many musicians that helped Ozzy along the way, and great, great musicians.
“And I wanted to especially thank the crew that was always there, that never left. We were blessed to have one of the best crews ever on the road, and thousands of people who lined the streets of Birmingham to say goodbye, and of course the millions of fans around the world.
“He loved them for giving him his extraordinary career, and for their loyalty that they gave him, and I know that they loved him back as much as he loved them.”
Kelly added: “He may not be here, but he left us one amazing body of work that will never be forgotten by the country that made him. Thank you for loving my father as much as we do.” Sharon closed the speech with Ozzy’s trademark sign-off and said: “As Ozzy would say at the end of every show — I love you all, and God bless you.”
