Lindsey Vonn is back in her own home to face the “hard realities” in front of her as she recovers from the leg fracture she suffered from her Winter Olympics crash last month.

The American skier posted to social media that she was back in her home on Sunday after going through multiple surgeries and now has a long road to recovery ahead of her.

“Home sweet home. Feels good to sleep in my own bed,” Vonn wrote in an Instagram post.

However, the tone of the post took on a more somber one as she reflected on the struggles that lay ahead, as well as someone who wasn’t there to welcome her back home.

“But wheeling through the front door without Leo greeting me like always was a very hard reality,” she wrote. “A reality I had to face. Along with many other hard realities that lay in front of me as I move forward….

“I’m focused now on therapy and getting healthy. It’s going to be a hard and painful journey but I am putting all of my energy into it, like I always do.

“I’m going to take some time for myself. I’ll give you updates when I can but right now my focus is on taking care of myself.”

Vonn ended the post with a message of appreciation and love for those who have been supporting her through the recovery process.

Leo had been Vonn’s dog that died in early February amid her surgeries and recovery from the scary-looking injury she suffered during the Olympics.

Vonn had entered the Winter Games already competing on a torn ACL that occurred a little more than a week before suffering the complex leg fracture during the downhill run.

She spent nearly two weeks at a hospital in Milan before returning to the United States, and in a previous social media post, Vonn revealed that her leg had been in danger of being amputated.
