Columbian golfer, Nicolás Echavarría, is once again in the headlines for adding another achievement under his hat. He has recently clinched the 2026 Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches, with an impressive final-round 66 to finish at 17-under-par. The 31-year-old got a two-shot victory and another prestigious invitation to the Masters Tournament, opening new possibilities for his career.

Who is Claudia De Antonio?

Claudia De Antonio was born on December 9, 1995, in Caracas, Venezuela. She grew up in a sports-oriented family and naturally developed a passion for athletics at a young age. Like her husband, golf held a significant place in her life. She attended American Heritage School, where she competed on the girls’ golf team from 2010 to 2014. 

Later, Claudia continued her love of golf at Louisiana State University (LSU), where she posted a strong scoring average during her senior year. Due to the competitive background, she developed a strong understanding of the physical and mental demands required to perform better in golf. Subsequently, her knowledge and understanding have proved invaluable to her husband.

Apart from her journey in athletics, Claudia established an impressive career and portfolio outside the field. She earned a Master’s degree in Business Management and Leadership from the University of Miami, where she also continued playing golf. After graduation, she worked as a Marketing Specialist at UPS. However, soon Claudia chose a path that allowed her to pursue her passion and academics, transitioning into a Golf Marketing Coordinator at Perry Ellis International.

Claudia also has a great entrepreneurial spirit. She co-founded Papaya Pina, a golf apparel brand for young girls, in 2025. It reflects her willingness to empower the next generation of female golfers while combining fashion and sport. At the same time, she now serves on the board of the PGA TOUR Wives Association as Vice President of Collaborations, Fundraising, and Social Media. The role reflects her active involvement in golfing beyond just being by Nicolás Echavarría’s side.

Nicolás Echavarría and Claudia De Antonio’s love story is rooted in their love for golf

Nicolás Echavarría and Claudia De Antonio’s relationship goes back nearly a decade. They reportedly met in 2016, when they were both going through a similar amateur phase in professional golf during their college years. Subsequently, the duo immediately bonded over their shared experiences, developing a strong chemistry. Since then, Claudia was by Nicolás’ side as he rose from the Korn Ferry Tour to the PGA Tour. In turn, he has often credited her for helping him stay grounded amid the pressures of professional competition.

Although life on such tours can be isolating, having a partner who understands the sport like Claudia has made a big difference in his journey. After dating for several years, the couple finally announced their highly anticipated engagement in July 2021. Eventually, they got married on November 29, 2025, in a tropical ceremony in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Notably, their destination wedding came just before the start of the 2026 PGA Tour season, marking a new chapter in both their personal and professional lives. Later, Nico and Claudia went on their honeymoon at the Sabi Sabi Game Reserve in South Africa. Now, during Nicolas’ win at the Cognizant Classic week, he revealed that the couple had purchased a new home in Palm Beach Gardens, marking a new chapter in their lives. Sharing his delight on the same, Nico said:

“We don’t have any family in Jacksonville. We just got married. We want to have kids soon. So that extra help with my wife’s parents, who live 45 minutes to an hour away, would be huge. We travel a lot, so that’s kind of the decision that we made. We actually got the house yesterday. We’re building a house. We’re still going to do some touches to the house. So probably in two, three weeks we’ll be moved.”

Nicolás Echavarría pursued golf professionally in 2017 after playing at the college level for the University of Arkansas. After the start of his sports career, Nico’s performance in the Korn Ferry Tour Finals earned him a PGA Tour card, and he has steadily built his reputation as one of Colombia’s most promising golfers. He then went on to win the Cognizant Classic and the ZOZO Championship in 2024, creating a stellar record. Nicolás also won the Masters Par 3 Contest in April 2025, earning a career-high paycheck and another Masters invitation, further strengthening his position as one of the tour’s budding talents.
