Love island star Ella Barnes has fled Dubai and moved onto a port city in the United Arab Emirates, saying it’s ‘business as usual here’
Celebrity hotspot Dubai has now become a scary place to be as tensions flare across the Middle East – and Love Island star Ella Barnes, 25, found herself caught up in the chaos caused by the conflict leaving many travellers – and reality stars – currently holidaying there terrified.
Ella posted a snap to her Instagram of her driving along a deserted highway and wrote: “We are out of here. Thanks for all the messages. Had so many.” She then revealed her new location, sharing a video of a sun-kissed resort dotted with holidaymakers in Ras Al Kaimah, a port city in the UAE. Sharing another video of a beach bar and pool, she wrote, “Business as usual and calm over here.”
The influencer, 25, who starred on the ITV show in 2023, first took to Instagram on Sunday to explain her flight from Dubai Airport home had been cancelled as airspace in the region closed over strikes.
Posting an eery image of the empty airport to her social media account, she captioned it: “Got evacuated out of Dubai airport and my flight home cancelled. Guess, I’ll be staying here a little longer.”
Clearly terrified, Ella later posted snaps of missiles in the air and wrote: “Missiles in the sky. No this is so scary. Listen to how loud the explosion is at the end. WTF.”

But Ella is not the only celebrity to be caught up unwittingly in the scary conflict. Another former Love Islander Laura Anderson had recently arrived there with her daughter Bonnie, when the Iranian retaliation started and air defence fire was seen over the UAE’s commercial hub. She wrote on Instagram: “Horrendous situation. Bonnie and I are fine.”
Her fellow Love Island star Arabella Chi is also in Dubai with her daughter Gigi and wrote on Instagram: “Dubai friends. Scary times. Stay safe.”
Former Strictly star Vicky Pattison is stranded in the country, after enjoying a break in Dubai with husband Ercan Ramadan, before her departing flight to Australia was cancelled.
Vicky told followers, “We are currently in our hotel and have been assured we’re safe. We are aware that the situation that is unfolding is scary and I’m also aware that there’s a lot of videos circulating on social media which are understandably concerning.
“I’m not sure what else to say, other than we’re doing our best to stay calm, not feed any unconfirmed narratives and we’re thinking of everyone who is feeling unsettled and unsafe right now.”
Ex-TOWIE star Kate Ferdinand and former Apprentice star Luisa Zissman who live in Dubai have both posted about the impact of the missile strikes, revealing they have taken to sleeping in the basement of their homes on Saturday night for safety..
Kate – who moved to Dubai with her former footie star husband Rio last August – alongside their children, Shae, two, Cree, five, as well as Rio’s daughter Tia, 14 – took to Instagram on Sunday to provide an update after a ‘very scary night’.
She wrote: “Thank you for all of your messages and sorry for the silence, I haven’t wanted to worry you all I just haven’t been able to find the words. We are safe. The government are doing an amazing job of keeping it that way and despite my nerves I feel we are in very safe hands.
“We are hoping for a calmer evening tonight, last night was very scary. Although Cree and Shae loved it as they couldn’t believe we all got a sleepover in the basement.
“Thank you for all of your prayers, this whole experience is very eye-opening and I am praying for anyone affected. Lots of love to everyone.”
