Will ‘Benedict’ And ‘Sophie’ Return In ‘Bridgerton’ Season 5? Actress Reveals, ‘I Don’t Have..’

Bridgerton fans have been over the top after watching a fairytale love story between ‘Benedict’ and ‘Sophie’. The couple’s subsequent marriage against all odds has made fans yearn for Season 5 of Bridgerton. While Netflix has already confirmed that it has renewed the series for two more seasons, viewers are curious to know whether ‘Benedict Bridgerton’ and ‘Sophie Baek’ will remain part of the show or quietly step into the background, as some past leads did. Here’s what we know about the same. 

Will ‘Benedict’ and ‘Sophie’ return for Bridgerton Season 5? 

Bridgerton Season 4 was focused on the charm of ‘Benedict Bridgerton’, played by Luke Thompson, and his fairytale romance with ‘Sophie Baek’, portrayed by Yerin Ha. After a lot of confusion, secrets, class divide, and an emotional confession, ‘Queen Charlotte’ sanctioned their wedding, which allowed ‘Sophie’ to step fully into society. Finally, Yerin has addressed speculation about whether she will reprise her role in Season 5. Sharing her plans to US Weekly, the actress said:

“I would love to film as much as possible.”

Additionally, she revealed that the pre-production for Season 5 has already begun. Yet, the actress did not have the time to read the new scripts due to her hectic schedule. Although she did not directly confirm whether she will be part of it, her excitement suggests an interesting storyline lies ahead for her character in the show. Likewise, the showrunner, Jess Brownell, had previously hinted that ‘Benedict’ and ‘Sophie’ will remain in London rather than disappear from the storyline, which left the fans excited.

Who will lead Bridgerton Season 5? 

Although ‘Benedict’ and ‘Sophie’ might return to Bridgerton Season 5, they will no longer be the leads on the show. Netflix has confirmed that Seasons 5 and 6 will focus on the next siblings in line for the Bridgerton family. However, there is a mystery over whether the exact sibling shall take the story forward. The most strong contenders are ‘Eloise Bridgerton’, played by Claudia Jessie, and ‘Francesca Bridgerton’, portrayed by Hannah Dodd. If the makers follow the sequence in the book, the next season could feature ‘Eloise’s romance with ‘Sir Phillip Crane’. However, since the series previously altered the timelines, there is a possibility for ‘Francesca’ to take the lead, too.

Bridgerton debuted on Netflix in 2020 and has since become one of the streaming service’s most successful period dramas. It is based on Julia Quinn’s novels and follows the journey of eight ‘Bridgerton’ siblings as they find love and face challenges in Regency-era London. Every season puts the spotlight on a different sibling, with classic romance tropes, extravagant costumes, and the typical Regency-era setting. Season 1 focused on ‘Daphne’ and the ‘Duke’, Season 2 followed ‘Anthony’ and ‘Kate’, Season 3 highlighted ‘Colin’and ‘Penelope’, and Season 4 brought ‘Benedict’s’ fairytale romance to life. 

Meanwhile, showrunner, Jess Brownell told The Hollywood Reporter that their team is working to release seasons more quickly, but the production and post-production timelines still stretch close to two years.
