This year will mark a full decade since Arnold Palmer — affectionately known as “The King” — died at age 87. But the golf legend lives on in many ways, from his eponymous beverage and iconic umbrella-logoed merchandise to the hundreds of course designs that bear his name, including this week’s PGA Tour stop, Bay Hill, which is the annual home of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Each year, Cobra-Puma Golf has produced a number of co-branded pieces of apparel, footwear and accessories to honor Palmer’s legacy, and this year’s limited-edition driver is a true show-stopper.
The Cobra OPTM X Arnold Palmer limited-edition custom driver has all the technology of the standard OPTM X, which was released in January. Of the four OPTM driver models available, the X is intended to complement a wide variety of players — especially those who don’t struggle with creating too much spin. True Spec’s tests revealed that the OPTM X was the fastest in high-swing-speed (110+ mph) tests and was the longest overall for the mid-speed tester (103 mph).
The limited-edition version of the driver includes a few notable aesthetic updates, such as a navy blue color scheme with gold accents on the clubhead, and elevated details, including an understated pattern featuring Palmer’s iconic umbrella logo and his famous signature.
