Ruth Langsford’s comments emerged live on air during a chat with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden about her new book, Feeling Fabulous, in which she speaks “candidly” about her ex-husband

Ruth Langsford has issued a blunt two-word response to a question about her ex-husband, Eamonn Holmes. It came during a discussion about her new book, titled Feeling Fabulous, on a recent broadcast of Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden (Wednesday, March 4).

As they chatted, Jamie noted that Ruth speaks “candidly” about her ex-husband Eamonn in the book and inquired if the GB News presenter had read it himself. Ruth quickly responded: “Don’t know.”

A former TV power couple and familiar presence on This Morning, Ruth and Eamonn announced their plans to divorce after 14 years of marriage in May 2024. Eamonn has since moved on with relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, who is 22 years his junior.

Ruth provided more details about what readers can expect from the book, explaining that although she doesn’t address her divorce or delve into specifics, she does discuss “finding myself single at 65-years-old.”

Probing further, Amanda asked whether she’d be open to a new relationship, to which Ruth replied that she’d “never said never”, but, at present, she’s “perfectly happy” with a “full life and great friends”.

In a touching remark about her outlook, she shared: “I said, ‘I’m going forward with an open mind and an open heart’.”

Jamie noted that the modern dating world is “very different”, as Amanda, alluding to dating apps, chipped in, asking if Ruth would be signing up, but she quickly confirmed that she “won’t be swiping”.

Amanda quipped: “She’d probably go the wrong way; she’s like me.”

Ruth clarified: “If I’m going to do it, Jamie, I want to do it the old-fashioned way. You know, that I might just walk out of here, bump into somebody. ‘Oh, sorry’, and then find myself having a coffee with them. I don’t know, but I won’t be swiping anyone!”

Over the weekend, Ruth announced that she would be “going younger” her next relationship while chatting to her friend, Rylan Clark, on his Radio 2 programme on Saturday, prompting him to call her a “cougar”.

He said: “Oh go on, you cougar! There’s the headline of the day, Ruth dating a 22-year-old,” as Ruth agreed: “Go on!” In response, Rylan shared his delight at the prospect of Ruth dating.

Rylan added: “I can’t wait to take you out on the pull, I cannot wait! I can’t wait for the day – come on, me, you, Lizzie Cundy, having a laugh outside some Mayfair bar!”

A seemingly hesitant Ruth said: “You’ll have to be careful where you’re taking me, because… you know..”

Rylan added: “I won’t be careful in the slightest! I’ll raffle you off to the highest bidder. I’ll be like, ‘who wants her? Someone take her off my hands, please!'”
