We’ve spilled a lot of (digital) ink about the humble ponytail and how versatile the hairstyle really is. It can take you from the gym to the office to a fancy, dressed-up party with just a few tweaks, and it’s also right at home in the front row of the Chloé show at Paris Fashion Week, where we spotted the perfect bubble ponytail on the one and only Oprah.
Oprah, who has been attending various shows alongside her longtime bestie Gayle King, looked like an absolute vision at the Chloé show on March 5 in a cropped suede capelet jacket and ruffled blouse, with her bubble ponytail worn casually tossed over one shoulder. The ponytail began with a sleek foundation, with the lengths cinched at the crown of her head and fastened in a series of bubbles. Small portions of hair were tucked around the base of each bubble to disguise the hair elastics. The TV legend’s sunglasses covered up her eye makeup, but she finished off her Chloé glam with peachy blush and glossy lips.

Oprah has long loved a good ponytail. The day before the Chloé show, she wore a swingy, curled pony to sit front row at Stella McCartney, again with King by her side. One of our fave Oprah ponytails of all time was the style she wore to the 2023 Academy Museum Gala: a half-up pony styled in loose curls with tons and tons of glossy shine.
Inspired by Oprah’s Parisian bubble pony? You can definitely DIY the style at home, but you’ll want a teasing comb and a few strategic styling products to make the bubbles pop, so to speak. “The secret to getting the perfect bubble without it looking flat is texturizing or volumizing sprays,” hairstylist Daniel Koye previously told Allure. Once you’ve cinched the ponytail, you can start creating the bubbles. “Go down a couple of inches [from the base of the ponytail] and tease with your brush and hairspray so it holds, then gently smooth over the teasing and put another elastic underneath the teased section,” Koye explained. “You can gently pull some pieces up to make the bubble bigger and give it a piecey look.” Just make sure you’ve taken the time to round up all those lost hair elastics by your bed, in the shower, and in your gym bag before you get started!
