Britney Spears shocked fans around the world on Thursday afternoon when it emerged that she had been arrested. It’s understood the singer, 44, was handcuffed by the California Highway Patrol around 9:30 PM on Wednesday night for Driving Under the Influence, TMZ claims. It’s also thought she was booked early on Thursday morning around 3 AM.
Britney is yet to publicly comment on the reports of her arrest and her Instagram account appears to no longer be active. Earlier today it was reported the Toxic singer, whose highs and lows have been very publicly documented, was granted a permanent restraining order against a Louisiana man after her security team claimed he showed up at her home after making “disturbing social media posts”.

It’s thought that Britney became very emotional when she was in jail, with insiders explaining to TMZ that she was “crying a lot” as the whole incident unfolded.
Brit’s reunion with her boys
In recent years, it’s become apparent that Britney, who has Sean Preston, 20, and 19-year-old Jayden with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, just how estranged she has become from her sons, and is thought to have only seen them a handful of times. But all that could be about to change, as manager Cade Hudson told TMZ: “Her boys are going to be spending time with her.
