The decisions over who should be involved in Rob Reiner’s tribute at the Oscars next weekend has sparked a divide and reportedly left one film star feeling ‘devastated’

With the Oscars just days away a feud has allegedly erupted over a planned tribute to Rob Reiner.

When Harry Met Sally… director Rob Reiner died at the age of 78, after being found alongside his wife Michele Singer Reiner at their Los Angeles residence on Sunday, December 15 last year. Paramedics were called to the home on Chadbourne Avenue in Los Angeles’ Brentwood neighborhood at around 3:30 p.m. and minutes later police were dispatched to the scene.

Rob and Michele Reiner died from “multiple sharp force injuries” … according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. The ME also notes the manner of death for both Rob and Michele was homicide.

The news prompted tributes from every corner of American life – politics, film, comedy and television – a reflection of Reiner’s impact over more than five decades.

With Reiner being a big name in the film industry a tribute is set to be in the pipeline for the upcomming Oscars which takes place next Sunday, March 15. But the Daily Mail has now revealed that decisions over who should be involved in Reiner’s tribute has sparked a divide.

An insider told the MaillOnline: “They are looking to have Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal on stage and also have Jerry O’Connell and Wil Wheaton from Stand By Me to be a part of the tribute. One person currently left off is Corey Feldman, and Corey is devastated that he hasn’t been asked to be a part of the tribute. He loved Rob and expected to be asked, especially since Jerry and Wil were asked.”

Feldman, O’Connell and Wheaton are touring together in honor of Stand By Me’s 40th anniversary, which made the snub especially ‘heartbreaking’.

The source added: “‘Jerry and Wil feel bad for their buddy and have tried to reason with the Academy that Stand By Me was an ensemble and Corey should be a part of the tribute, but that currently doesn’t seem to be the case for organizers and they are looking to snub him out.”

The Mirror has reached out to Feldman, O’Connell, Wheaton and the Academy for comment.
