St Helens have announced that Mark Percival has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the club for a 15th season.

Percival has been with St Helens since he was in the academy system at 14 years old and looks set to finish his career where it all began.

To date, the centre has made 266 appearances for the Super League club, scoring 129 tries and kicking 383 goals for a total of 1,282 points.

He has been part of five Super League title-winning teams and has also won four League Leaders’ Shields, a Challenge Cup and a World Club Challenge.

“I have always wanted to be at this club, and now I’ve got another year’s extension to keep playing here, it feels unbelievable,” Percival said.

“I love this club, so I’m glad to get this deal over the line and get it done.

“It can be difficult at times when you pick up injuries, and people may think you’re injured more than you are, and I can’t thank the fans enough because they’ve always supported me.

“I feel like I’ve still got a lot left to give, and I want to show that this season and next. Hopefully, I can keep my body in good condition and keep going. I want to do that for the fans and for my family as well.

“My family are my biggest supporters. They’re there every week, and they’ve followed my career all the way through since I was a kid, and I owe them a lot too.”

Head coach Paul Rowley said: “It is great news that Mark will be staying with the club for a further 12 months beyond the end of this year.

“What he brings to the team, both on and off the field, is immeasurable. I can say on behalf of all the players and coaching staff, we are absolutely delighted that Percy will remain a Saint, and we look forward to a successful year this year and beyond.”
