Season 7 was divided into two parts, with the latter half placing ‘Jamie’ (Sam Heughan) and ‘Claire’ (Caitríona Balfe) in the middle of the American Revolution’s chaos. In Part 2, during the Battle of Monmouth, ‘Claire’ was struck by a stray bullet and nearly died. With no doctor nearby, she guided Dr. Denzell Hunter through the surgery that ultimately saved her life. ‘Jamie’ refused to return to battle and resigned his post as brigadier general to stay by her side.

While recovering, ‘Claire’ experienced visions of ‘Master Raymond’ (Dominique Pinon), hinting at unresolved secrets surrounding their daughter, ‘Faith’. One of the biggest shocks in the Season 7 finale was the possibility that the daughter who was believed to have died shortly after birth may have actually survived. Season 7 revealed that Faith had long been believed to have died in France years ago as a newborn. However, the nail-biting season finale offers a glimmer of hope that she may not have died after all.

Jamie Fraser’s illegitimate son, ‘William Ransom’ (played by Charles Vandervaart), experiences one of the most heartbreaking storylines in the Outlander Season 7 finale. After meeting ‘Jane’ at a brothel while she was trying to protect her younger sister, ‘Fanny’, ‘William’ attempts to help them. He shelters the sisters at the military encampment and searches for a way to save Jane after she killed a British officer who tried to assault ‘Fanny’. However, ‘Jane’ is eventually captured and subjected to harsh interrogation. Before he can return with help from ‘Jamie Fraser’, ‘Jane’ takes her own life. The loss leaves ‘William’ devastated and burdened with guilt, intensifying his emotional turmoil following the recent revelation that ‘Jamie’, and not ‘Lord John Grey’ (played by David Berry), is his biological father.
