Tye Kartye has never let anything derail his dream of becoming a professional hockey player.

No matter how many times he was dealt a setback, the Kingston, Ont., native pushed forward even harder.

When he was cut from his first Ontario Hockey League team in 2017, Kartye went on to serve as assistant captain of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and eventually was considered one of the top overage players in the league.

When Kartye went undrafted in the NHL, he impressed the Seattle Kraken and earned an entry-level contract.
