Britain’s star Amanda Holden revealed that she had recently been on a family outing, one that saw an amusing incident occur in a café when they stopped for a cup of tea

Amanda Holden has declared “it was horrific” as she shed light on her parents’ house-hunting adventures. Amanda revealed that, after her parents sold their home in Cornwall to move closer to her, they’ve been house-hunting together in search of what she called a “done-up, fabulous” place to live for the next 20 years.

She admitted that she had “made” them check out the areas of West Wittering and Bosham, West Sussex. Prior to this, the family were looking at the Hampshire area, where Amanda was brought up as a child. But, once she viewed a property, Amanda made up her mind immediately that it was “not a good house” and required too much work.

However, an unexpected incident involving her mum, Judith Mary Harrison, occurred on the day. Amanda explained that her mum fell over and was covered in mud, and the estate agent had been “dusting her off”. Jamie inquired whether she had been “on the old sauce”. It turned out that her mum had tripped over a piece of concrete and ended up with mud on her jeans and sleeve.

It wouldn’t be the only mishap to occur that day, though, as they then headed to Bosham harbour, where the family decided to frequent a local café for a break and a well-earned cup of tea. However, after returning from the facilities, Amanda spotted her mum “on her knees in the café”.

She continued: “We were enjoying a cup of tea in Shoreside Cafe – I am going to give them a shout-out. I go to spend a penny before we look at the next house. I come out; my mother’s on her knees in the café, and I went, ‘Oh my God’. I’m thinking, ‘God, they actually need to move into like a care home at this point.

“I’m like, ‘Oh, Mummy, have you fallen over again? And she said, ‘No’. She said, ‘I flicked my hair, and my earring’s gone under the fridge’. I was like, ‘Oh my God’. So the poor woman who’s trying to serve cream tea to everyone is also on her hands and knees, and she says, ‘I can see it, I can see it’.

“So I bang on the window to my lovely, long-suffering driver, Alan. I’m like, ‘Alan, can you come in and…’Alan and this poor woman move this big massive like catering fridge so that my mum can get her Claire’s accessory earring from underneath it. I mean, it wasn’t worth anything. But that was my day yesterday.”

Jamie inquired about the third house, to which Amanda replied: “Oh, the third house. No, it was horrific. It was alright inside, but horrible on the outside, but we met a nice estate agent through that.” In other news, reports emerged this month that Amanda was refusing to ditch her sexy outfits for Britain’s Got Talent.

She told The Sun newspaper: “Of course there will be side boob, leg and anything else that I can get out. The only change is that I care less these days about what anyone thinks of me. I’m surrounded by like-minded people who have good energy. I don’t have time for negativity.”

A certain dress worn by Amanda in 2017 led to hundreds of viewer complaints to media watchdog Ofcom, but she is reportedly adamant that she will wear whatever she wants. She went on to describe how she has “no rule book” when it comes to her sartorial choices.

She added: “I call it self-preservation. I have no rule book with fashion – I encourage everyone to wear whatever makes them feel good. You’ll never see me without a heel, a lash and a bit of lippy, and that’s because I want to, not because I feel I have to. I perhaps have way more courage now than I did before – there is no holding me back!”
