Season 7 of the much-loved show, Virgin River has returned with a bang! What happens in Season 7 of Virgin River?

Season 7 of Virgin River continues the story of ‘Mel Monroe’ (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) and ‘Jack Sheridan’ (Martin Henderson). The show opens with ‘Mel’ and ‘Jack’ as a married couple now, who are trying to adjust their lives as newlyweds. In the first five-ten minutes of the show, it is revealed that when ‘Jack’ visits his ex-girlfriend’s house, he finds out about the tragic death of ‘Calvin’ and ‘Charmaine’ and their twins have disappeared.

The series then returns to the married life of ‘Mel’ and ‘Jack’, who decide to take the serious step of adopting a baby. Eventually, they meet ‘Marley’, a pregnant woman, who is unsure if she wants to raise the child or not. Later, ‘Marley’ realises that she is not ready and is okay with the couple adopting the child. However, when the child is born, the baby has a rare congenital heart defect. Despite this, ‘Mel’ and ‘Jack’ decide to adopt the child.

The subplots of Virgin River Season 7

Apart from the core storyline, the Netflix show, Virgin River Season 7 also includes multiple subplots. One of the major subplots is of ‘Brie’ and ‘Brady’, who had a troubled relationship in the previous seasons; however, they meet again and decide to give their love one more chance. The show also features their simple, fresh and unhurried start. On the other hand, ‘Lizzie’ and ‘Denny’ are all set to welcome their first child, ‘Doc Mullins’ is dealing with medical and legal problems and ‘Hope McCrea’ organises the town’s Founder’s Day.

As the season reaches its finale, things seem to be good and perfect; however, it is not. Towards the end, ‘Mel’ and ‘Jack’ discover that their baby needs an urgent heart surgery and they need to rush to Los Angeles to meet the specialists, who can save the baby. On the other hand, ‘Brady’, who is on his motorcycle and planning to meet his ladylove, ‘Brie’, meets with an accident, leaving viewers with a major cliffhanger. It is worth mentioning that viewers will have to wait for Season 8 to know the future of ‘Mel’ and ‘Jack’ and ‘Brady’ and ‘Brie’.

Is there a Season 8 of Virgin River?

Months before the premiere of Virgin River Season 7, the showrunner, Patrick Sean Smith confirmed another season. However, it is worth mentioning that the release date of the same has not been announced by Netflix. Earlier, in an interview with Deadline, the showrunner opened up about the changes in the cast and explained that every character has an expiry and to keep the show moving, he will have to end a few characters and welcome fresh faces. He had shared:

“For me, I’m just trying to look to the longevity of the show and making sure that the characters that we’re keeping have enough story engine in them to keep going. So I can’t say there are any specific cast shakeups planned, but I think we will have to start to — as characters run their course — make some decisions and bring in some new blood.”
