A Scrubs star has been forced to respond to claims he’s in a romantic relationship with an AI chatbot, as Zach Braff said he couldn’t ‘believe he had to type these words’
A Scrubs actor has angrily hit back at claims he’s in a romantic relationship with an AI chatbot.
The show’s star Zach Braff responded to the rumour, which was discussed on a podcast I Need You Guys. Comedians Jenny Slate, Max Silvestri and Gabe Liedman all discussed the wild claim and the clip from their podcast has since gone viral.
In the clip, Max claims: “I have gossip that I’m not gonna put a name to…” He adds: “There’s a well-known actor who is currently in a romantic relationship with his AI chatbot.”
“Woah,” the co-hosts respond as Max adds: “Yeah and brings the chatbot with him places.” He was then quizzed on how well-known the actor was to which he said: “As near A-list as TV can get you.”

Max is then asked if he actor is aware on how ‘weird‘ his dating scenario is, to which Max says: “From my understanding the little info I’ve heard is that there is a self-awareness but kind of in a, ‘yeah sorry that you’re not on board with the future’.”
The podcast clip went viral on their TikTok with many pointing the finger at Zach, 50. One wrote: “I’ve heard this about Zach Braff”. Another added: “The search being Zach Braff”. But a third insisted the claims are actually part of a storyline on Scrubs as they wrote: “No he isn’t…. it’s a storyline on scrubs”.
Now, Zach has taken to his Instagram story to angrily hit out at the rumour, insisting it is false. Sharing a screenshot from the TikTok clip of the podcast, Zach wrote on top: “I’m not dating a chatbot. I can’t believe I have to type these words. It is a storyline in an upcoming ep of Scrubs. Maybe it came from that? Not sure. But not me. Love, The guy not dating his chatbot. Please update all gossip sites.”
He added a screengrab of Jenny Slate on the podcast and wrote on top: “Also I had no idea until tonight (because I’m not on TikTok) that these folks were the origin of this?” Adding a further screenshot of the podcast, he added: “I feel like now is a good time to be kind to people.”
While Zach denies dating an AI chatbot, his dating history is star-studded. He was recently linked to singer Fraces Whitney, 26. And in 2019, Zach dated Florence Pugh, 29, until 2022.
Florence was 21 years Zach’s junior and the pair rarely spoke of their relationship. However, in a podcast interview with Louis Theroux, actress Florence admitted hurt over scrutiny around their romance.
She told documentarian Louis in a November episode of his podcast: “With relationships and with romance in this world, it doesn’t matter how much you speak on it or how little you speak on it.” The actress added: “People don’t care. They want a story. They sort of want a reality show. So, it doesn’t really matter how much you say you love someone or how much they make you happy. If they don’t like them and it doesn’t fit that image that they want of you, they don’t care. I think that hurt me.”
She added: “I stood up for it and I stood up for him and I stood up for me just being allowed to do whatever the f*** I wanted to do.” The Don’t Worry Darling actress added: “hat did actually change a few people’s minds. I actually had a few people in the public eye reach out to me and say, ‘I didn’t think of it like that. And thank you for saying that.”
