Love Island’s Sharon Gaffka reveals gender of unborn baby in sweet video

Love Island star Sharon Gaffka has announced the gender of her unborn baby with an adorable video.

Sharon, 30, announced she was pregnant with her first child earlier this month. The reality TV star has now revealed she is set to welcome a baby boy into the world as she shared an adorable video showing how she and her partner Matthew found out they were expecting a boy.

The clip shows the pair holding two empty Champagne flutes upside down before pushing them into a heart-shaped cake with cream piped icing and pink and blue bows dotted around. The pair then look at each other before lifting the glasses to show the inside of the cake is blue in colour.

As she shared the sweet video on her Instagram page, Sharon wrote in the caption: “Finding out who Baby Gaffka-Torbitt will be” followed by a white heart emoji. As she shared the video on her Instagram, she was flooded with messages of congratulations.

One wrote: “Omggggggggggg welcome to the boy mumma club eeeeeek” as another follower added: “Awwwww – how fabulous! Many congratulations! xxxx”. And a third said: “Awww Sharon, congratulations to you both”.

It comes after Sharon announced she was expecting her first child with her fiancé Matthew Torbitt earlier this month. For their announcement, the couple posted photos of themselves reading a fictional newspaper titled “The Gaffka-Torbitt Times” which had a baby scan on the front page, with the headline: “Due July 2026.”

Sharon captioned the sweet post: “When I thought I was going to be spending my 30th birthday weekend with my head in a toilet…this isn’t quite what I had in mind! Baby Gaffka-Torbitt is on their way.” Meanwhile, dad-to-be Matthew also shared her announcement on X, with a playful nod to their careers in politics. He wrote: “Breaking News: Matthew Torbitt and Sharon Gaffka are expanding their coalition. Majority expected: 2026.”

The couple’s happy news comes after the pair got engaged in December. Matthew popped the question while on holiday in Sweden. Sharing a photo of herself flashing her stunning ring, she announced: “Decided to pick up a rock when we were 2091m above sea level.”

Sharon’s happy baby news comes weeks after she suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage in 2022. Taking to Instagram on August 15, 2023, she said she had been “trying to find the strength” to open up and had been “healing” from the past 18 months.

Captioning her upload which saw her crying, Sharon said: “I want to start by saying that everyone’s healing process is different. The foetus I miscarried would’ve been celebrating their first birthday this week. Which hit me like a train and I have surprisingly found it incredibly tough to function as I normally would.

“Miscarriage affects 1 in 4 women in the UK. While I know I’m not the only one to have experience such loss, I’ve struggled with finding a space where the unique emotional journey that those who don’t envision motherhood in their future go through when facing such a loss, being talked about openly.”
