TEHRAN- According to a report by Tasnim News Agency, as the American-Zionist coalition’s war against the Iranian nation enters its third week, Mehdi Ghazanfari, the Chairman of the Board of the National Development Fund of Iran, has analyzed the events of the past two weeks in the political and economic spheres.

He also answered questions regarding the conditions for victory in the war, particularly the importance of closing the Strait of Hormuz and the economic consequences of disrupting this energy waterway.

In his assessment of the economic situation arising from the war, he stated: “To answer the question, I must first provide an important introduction, which may also be related to the presence of the powerful armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Strait of Hormuz. Usually, the fate of wars is determined by one or several factors that I will mention: ‘Power, Rules and Law, Social Cohesion & Resilience, Statement/Discourse, and Intention/Strategy.’

Ghazanfari explained: “By ‘Power,’ I mean having superiority in the components of authority, such as military, economic, or geographical strategic advantage, either collectively or individually. Fortunately, the Islamic Republic of Iran possesses these sufficiently.”

He added: “By ‘Rules and Law,’ I mean having the possibility and ability to utilize international rules and secure sufficient votes to condemn the enemy in global institutions. While maintaining the upper hand in these assemblies, we should use this for victory, for establishing new regulations, and later, in matters of compensation or the like, to ensure decisions are not made against national interests. Perhaps more work is needed in this regard.”

“By ‘Social Cohesion & Resilience’, I mean the presence of empathetic people and brotherly ethnic groups supporting the home front, and the people’s capacity for endurance and resistance against shortages and hardships. In fact, the ‘Law’ component is about securing international legal support, whereas the ‘Resilience’ component focuses on maintaining national support. Thank God, the latter manifests itself in the presence of the people on the streets and is rooted in religiosity and love for Iran.”

Explaining his meaning of the ‘Intention/Strategy’ factor, he said: “It means possessing a kind of intelligence and acumen in selecting goals and objectives, as well as in the manner of expressing them, whether openly or ambiguously and transformed.”

According to him, the ‘Statement/Discourse’ factor refers to the subject of negotiation, media, and media engagement. While ‘Intention’ pertains to a comprehensive plan to achieve victory and appropriately handle upcoming uncertainties, ‘Statement’ has an explanatory and narrative aspect.

The former economy minister emphasized: “For our country to be victorious in this unequal and unjust war, God willing, it is necessary to have a significant share of each of these components. Thank God, so far we have been excellent in ‘Power’ and ‘Social Cohesion,’ but more and precise work is needed in ‘Law’ and ‘Statement.’ ‘Intention’ is usually kept hidden, and strategies, policies, methods, and battle plans cannot be revealed before their time.”

Position of Strait of Hormuz in components of war

The Chairman of the Board of the National Development Fund, explaining the place of the Strait of Hormuz in the wartime calculations, stated: “These mentioned components must also be considered regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Firstly, we all know that the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf in general are not just a passageway for oil tankers and oil and gas-related products; they are also a route for ships and vessels carrying food products, industrial goods, and military equipment. It is, overall, a commercial and economic highway. If it were to be closed or brought under control, it would affect all areas of energy, economy, food security, and military affairs.”

He continued: “Although the strategic importance of this strait has been pointed out many times before, our people have realized more in these past few days that we had paid less attention to, or had not effectively exercised, the share and role the Islamic Republic could have in governing the Strait of Hormuz.”

Ghazanfari simultaneously emphasized: “This neglect might have been because our country is not one of strife and violence; it has always been, and is, a proponent of peace, brotherhood, participation, and tolerance. For this reason, we never viewed these God-given opportunities as a tool for profiteering and domination, and unlike our country’s malicious enemies, we never sought to put others in a difficult position.”

Effect of releasing energy reserves on global markets is temporary

The Chairman of the Board of the National Development Fund emphasized: “One of the economic indicators important for many Western and industrial countries is the price index for oil, gas, and energy. Now, the aggressors must expect price increases and the onset of major inflation in their countries. Of course, America, with the help of some other countries, is seeking to regulate the energy market by distributing surplus energy, meaning resources they had previously stored.”

This economic analyst continued: “In fact, America, based on those two components of ‘Statement’ and ‘Intention,’ wants to make it appear that it is the winner of this imposed war and to alleviate the concerns of other countries. Such a policy might be effective in the short term, but it certainly has no positive long-term effects. Soon, the whole world will see the damaging effects of this brutal aggression carried out by the pedophilic and infamous leaders of Israel and America.”

He stated: “Some believe that by March 20th (the eve of the Persian New Year), energy market regulation policies will become ineffective as energy reserve levels drop, and the lies and hypocrisy of America and the Zionist regime will lead to their disgrace again, and the truth will reveal itself. That is when energy prices will become skyrocketing.”

Iran should seek permanent governance over Strait of Hormuz & drive economic benefits from it

Ghazanfari added: “In my opinion, by observing the components I mentioned in the introduction, a new discourse will form, God willing. The Islamic Republic of Iran should not only view the Strait of Hormuz as a control strategy but should also seek to derive economic benefit and generate revenue as part of its ‘Strait of Hormuz governance’ policies.”

The Head of the National Development Fund asserted: “In the past several years, our country has unfortunately suffered great losses due to unjust sanctions. Now is the time for the tide to turn. In the past, we mostly sought to end bitter events quickly so that regional countries could live together in comfort.”
