The team behind Aadu 3: One Last Ride – Part 1, starring Jayasurya, has confirmed that the film will release worldwide, including across GCC countries, putting to rest speculation about a possible postponement due to escalating tensions in West Asia.
With the Gulf region serving as a key overseas market for Malayalam cinema, uncertainty around theatre operations had triggered concerns about whether the much anticipated third instalment of the Aadu franchise would stick to its release plans.
In an official statement issued on Thursday, the makers revealed that they had been closely monitoring global developments before taking a final call.
“After careful consideration of various factors — including the vital need for our industry to thrive during these challenging times — we are glad to confirm that Aadu 3: One Last Ride, Part – 1 will release in theatres worldwide on March 19, 2026,” the statement said.
The announcement will likely come as a relief to fans of the cult comedy series that began with Aadu and later grew into a massive crowd favourite with the success of Aadu 2.
Industry concerns amid regional uncertainty
The Gulf Cooperation Council region remains one of the most significant overseas territories for Malayalam films due to the large Malayali diaspora across countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar. Box office returns from these markets often play a crucial role in the commercial performance of Malayalam releases.
Recent geopolitical developments in West Asia have created uncertainty for theatrical distribution in the region, prompting some filmmakers to reconsider their release strategies.
The makers of Toxic, headlined by Yash, recently pushed their planned release to June 4 after initially scheduling it for the same week.
Despite these developments, the team behind Aadu 3 said they believe it is important for the film industry to continue moving forward.
“In times like these, we believe storytelling has the power to bring people together. The Aadu franchise has always celebrated friendship, joy, chaos, and the healing power of laughter,” the statement read.
“We stand for peace, love, and happiness, and hope stories continue to unite us all,” the makers added.
Shaji Pappan and the gang ride again
Produced by Vijay Babu and written and directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas, Aadu 3 marks the third chapter in the popular action-comedy franchise.
The upcoming instalment will be released in two parts, with the first chapter arriving in theatres this month. Unlike the earlier films, the new entry is expected to feature a partial period setting as part of its storyline, adding a fresh layer to the franchise’s trademark chaos and humour.
Alongside Jayasurya, several familiar faces from the previous films are returning, including Saiju Kurup, Sunny Wayne, Vinayakan, and Dharmajan Bolgatty.
The film will also arrive in theatres the same weekend as Dhurandhar: The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh.
With Shaji Pappan and his eccentric gang back on the big screen, audiences can expect the same brand of outrageous humour, misadventures and cult moments that made the earlier films enduring favourites.
