The controversy over Britney Spears’ DUI arrest took a surprising turn last week, with a source telling new! her ex, Justin Timberlake, has “reached out” to the stricken star. Britney, 44, was booked for drunk driving after police spotted a BMW “braking and swerving in and out of lanes” in Ventura County, California, earlier this month.
But much-needed support for the mum-of-two is now rumoured to have come from her former flame, Justin. According to our source, the Cry Me A River singer – who was himself charged with a similar offence two years ago – has “reached out to her privately” in her hour of need.

“He still cares for Britney very much after all these years,” says our source. “Despite their ups and downs, Justin’s always been there when she needs him and [he] reaches out to support her.”
Tellingly, Justin knows all too well what his ex is going through right now. Justin, who dated Britney for three years before they split in 2002, was arrested in June 2024 in Sag Harbor, New York, on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Last week there was a shred of positive news for Britney after it was decided her post-arrest mugshot would not be released publicly. According to US reports, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said the photo “does not fall within the requirements and is considered discretionary”.
But as the star’s private life takes a downward turn, her loved ones are said to be desperately concerned for her welfare. “Everyone is just so worried about Britney,” says our source.
“They have seen her unravel before and they really don’t want to sit back and witness it all over again, because it was totally heartbreaking. Her boys are going to be spending some quality time with her, supporting her, and her loved ones are trying to come up with some kind of plan to help her move forward and feel better.”

Britney has sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline Her estranged father, Jamie Spears, 73, ran Britney’s conservatorship for 13 years.
This ended in 2021, and while it was hoped this would signal a fresh start for Britney, fears for the star – who divorced Sam Asghari in 2024 – have escalated recently.
“Her mental health is really quite fragile right now,” says our source. “Her family, as well as friends that have known her for a long time, are really concerned and desperately want her to get help, before it’s too late – be that rehab or whatever else.
“It’s caused a lot of sleepless nights. They are terrified about what’s next and they just want to be there for Britney and help her through this.”
