Once I do my work, I come out of it and let fans have a blast,” Pawan Kalyan said at the pre-release event of Ustaad Bhagat Singh on Sunday evening in Hyderabad. The event featured one of the longest speeches he has delivered at a film function in his decades-long career, ahead of the film’s theatrical release on March 19.
There is a reason his fans eagerly wait for his speeches. Instead of saying typical superstar lines to build hype, he often shares candid thoughts with his audience. “I don’t concern myself with how much money my movies make. I completed Ustaad Bhagat Singh in 40–45 working days,” the Power Star, as he is fondly known, told his enthusiastic fans. He also expressed gratitude for the support he received during the release of Bheemla Nayak. “At that time, I was going through a low phase,” he added.
‘Don’t indulge in fan wars’
Once again, he urged fans to move away from the culture of online fan wars, something Telugu cinema fandom is often associated with. “Don’t become toxic and abusive online. I have no personal differences with any hero. I wholeheartedly wish for the success of their movies. Unless everyone’s films work at the box office, the cinema ecosystem cannot thrive,” Pawan told the packed crowd. His speeches have often reflected a sense of grace and vulnerability, despite his stature as one of the biggest superstars of Telugu cinema.
