Gordon Ramsay may be famous for his fiery television persona, but away from the spotlight, the 59 year old celebrity chef leads a rather different life. With a large family and multiple properties to his name, he’s thought to spend much of his time in a leafy suburb of London.

Since around 2002, Wandsworth in South London has been home to Gordon and his wife Tana. The couple purchased their £7million eight-bedroom property as their family began to grow, and they now have six children altogether.

Over recent years, the stunning townhouse has undergone extensive renovations, which are now complete.

As reported by Country and Town House, he obtained planning permission in 2021 to revamp the house, converting four existing bedrooms into a sprawling master suite complete with two ensuite bathrooms and a walk-in wardrobe.

The renovation also saw the addition of a new basement, a wine cellar, and an extension on the ground floor. Whilst the work was underway, the family had to temporarily relocate, but they were able to move back in by 2024, reports the Express.

When they first moved in, all eight bedrooms were necessary as the Ramsay children were still young and living at home. The brood includes Megan, 27, twins Holly and Jack, 26, Tilly, 24, Oscar, six, and Jesse James, aged two.

So far, only Tilly seems to be following her father’s culinary path, having launched her own cooking show, Dish It Out, last year.

The borough of Wandsworth has become hugely popular, not only with Gordon but amongst other famous faces too. Past and present residents have included Keira Knightley, Louis Theroux, Sting, Sadiq Khan and Bear Grylls.

It was crowned the London Borough of Culture in 2025, recognised for its vibrant blend of traditions, festivals, cuisine, and arts – so it’s hardly surprising that Gordon would be drawn to relocate there and dive into the culinary scene.

Property values there typically sit at around £813,000 according to Rightmove. However, prices vary considerably depending on location, with the average flat priced at roughly £554,000.

Terraced homes sold for an average of £1,200,601, whilst semi-detached properties commanded £1,973,591.

Interestingly, Gordon doesn’t actually run any restaurants in his home neighbourhood of Wandsworth. Previously, he ran a central production kitchen on Wandsworth Road for his pub group, but his operational London restaurants are situated in central locations and other areas.

More recently, he’s been developing a brand new headquarters at 22 Bishopsgate. The 278-metre tall skyscraper houses five new Ramsay restaurants and bars – including Lucky Cat, Gordon Ramsay High, and Bread Street – alongside the Gordon Ramsay Academy for cookery and mixology courses.

This marks his ‘largest restaurant endeavour to date’, with a whopping £20million invested. In the trailer for his Netflix series Being Gordon Ramsay, he confessed: “There is so much riding on this reputationally, financially. You have to be better than good. It scares the sh** out of me. This thing is going to take balls of steel.”

In the same trailer, he hinted at potentially retiring after this project, stating: “I think I may retire after Bishopsgate.”

The celebrity chef also touched upon the pressure of launching five businesses under one roof, candidly admitting: “If 22 Bishopgate was to fail, I’m f*****.”
