The makers of Demonte Colony 3 unveiled the film’s first teaser on Monday, offering a brief but intriguing glimpse into the next instalment of the popular Tamil horror franchise. Headlined by Arulnithi and Priya Bhavani Shankar, the teaser introduces a new supernatural element that appears to drive the narrative forward.
A mysterious book takes centre stage
At the centre of the teaser is a mysterious book that seems to carry a deadly curse. Arulnithi and Priya Bhavani Shankar’s characters are shown searching for the person connected to this ominous object, which appears to trigger fatal consequences for anyone associated with it. The short teaser builds suspense around the origin of the book and the identity of its keeper.
The clip reveals that the book is currently in the possession of a librarian. However, the makers have kept the character’s identity under wraps for now. According to the announcement accompanying the teaser, the librarian’s identity will be revealed on Tuesday at 5:01 pm, adding another layer of intrigue to the film’s promotional campaign.
Directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu, the film carries the tagline “The End is Too Far”, hinting that the story might take the franchise into even darker territory. While the teaser refrains from revealing major plot details, it suggests that the narrative will revolve around uncovering the truth behind the cursed book and the sinister forces surrounding it.
Familiar faces return to the horror franchise
Demonte Colony 3 marks the return of Arulnithi and Priya Bhavani Shankar, who reprise their roles from the earlier films in the series. Their characters appear to continue their struggle against the supernatural forces that have haunted the franchise since its beginning.
The supporting cast includes Muthukumar and Meenakshi Govindarajan in key roles. Composer Sam CS also returns to score the music for the third instalment, continuing his association with the franchise’s atmospheric soundscape.
The previous film, Demonte Colony 2, released in 2024 and expanded the story in unexpected ways, with Arulnithi appearing in dual roles. Earlier promotional material for the third part had already sparked curiosity among fans. Character posters showed Arulnithi’s role appearing increasingly conflicted, seemingly walking the line between good and evil. Priya Bhavani Shankar’s poster also drew attention as she was shown pregnant, with blood visible on her hands and stomach, suggesting intense developments in the storyline.
While the makers have not revealed specific plot details yet, the film is expected to arrive in theatres during the summer this year. Speaking about the project during the tenth anniversary celebrations of the original film in May 2025, Ajay Gnanamuthu shared his vision for the next chapter of the franchise. Taking to his X handle, the director wrote that the team is working hard to craft a “chilling, cinematic and unforgettable theatrical experience” for audiences.
The technical crew for Demonte Colony 3 includes cinematography by Sivakumar Vijayan, editing by Kumaresh D, and dialogues by Pattukkottai Prabakar. The film is produced by Sudhan Sundaram, Manish Singhal and Durgaram Choudhary, with RC Rajkumar, Akshat Singhal and Mohit Singhal serving as co-producers.
The franchise began with the 2015 film Demonte Colony, which followed four friends who venture into a haunted bungalow and accidentally unleash a supernatural force after stealing a diamond necklace. The film became a commercial success and went on to develop a strong fan following over the years.
With the third instalment now teasing a new supernatural mystery, the Demonte Colony universe looks set to grow even darker and more expansive.
