Venezuela will face the United States in the World Baseball Classic final.
The South American team toppled the Italians 4-2 on Monday night at loanDepot park to set the stage for a meeting with the Americans for the WBC title, which would be Venezuela’s first if they manage to overpower the United States.
The United States is looking to earn its second-ever World Baseball Classic title on Tuesday.
Venezuela was forced to rally from a 2-0 deficit and overtook the Italians with a three-run seventh inning that included an RBI single by Ronald Acuña Jr. to tie the game and RBI singles from Maikel Garcia and Luis Arraez to put them ahead.
It was Italy’s first loss of the WBC.
