A rockstar has revealed the sad news that they have been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and only have a few years left to live as they refuse to take the treatment offered

A rock star has revealed their devastating cancer diagnosis leaves them with just “two to three” years left as they refuse treatment. Ginger Wildheart made the heartbreaking announcement in a statement on the website of his band, The Wildhearts.

He admitted he is refusing treatment for his diagnosis, saying he will “die with dignity”. A statement read: “During The Wildhearts’ incredible More Satanic Rites UK tour in December 2025, frontman and founding member Ginger Wildheart was experiencing severe pains that some nights forced him to take some short breaks from stage.

“Determined not to upset the band’s loyal fans – new and old – Ginger took painkillers to ensure the rock’n’roll was delivered, without missing a riff. Away from the tour Ginger has sought medical tests and investigations to establish the cause of the ongoing issue.

The statement surrounding the 61-year-old went on to say he is in a positive mood and is still writing new material. It follows the release of last year’s Satanic Rites of the Wildhearts album.

It added: “While we process this news and await further medical advice, Ginger wants everyone to know that strength and positivity will prevail and the show will go on. Make sure you come and see The Wildhearts – sounding bigger and more refreshingly amazing than ever – at a venue near you soon.”

Ginger is also said to be focusing on future solo projects. And he confirms he will be honouring all gig commitments that the band currently have in place despite his diagnosis.

As well as the statement from the band, Ginger also released words of his own on his personal page. He said: “Thanks for all your messages of support. I won’t go through treatment.

“I’ve lived the life of ten men and will die with dignity. Still got 2-3 years to say goodbye to everyone. And I’ll be rocking until the very last moment. No misery please. Positivity all the way.”

His followers were quick to share more messages of support on his post. Playboy model and former wrestling presenter, Mayra Dias Gomes, wrote: “All my love to you always.”

Another follower added: “Not connected properly with you for many years and I cannot say that this news doesn’t make me sad, because it does. But fair play to you for your decision and outlook, I don’t think I’d want treatment either. Stay strong and happy.”

And a third said: “You’ve been the heroic positive light for mefor so long. My happiest memories are seeing you on stage, meeting you at Norwich Waterfront and also winning your smiley bones guitar. The video message you made when signing it was the most beautiful gift, you put me on top of the world!

“I love you Ginger and I will always be forever grateful to you. If you can find a way for us to pay it forward I would be honoured to help with that. Please beat this Ginger!”
