Last One Laughing fans will not believe what Sam Campbell said about his parents.

Last One Laughing UK returns to Prime Video on March 19, featuring an entirely fresh roster of comedians battling to crack each other up.

Presenter Jimmy Carr singled out Sam Campbell as the standout performer for series two of the popular reality show, saying: “For me, the big discovery for people will be Sam Campbell.

“He’s been on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown a couple of times, he did Taskmaster, and we know him from the Edinburgh Fringe, but many viewers won’t know him.

“He’s a phenomenal talent. In show business I think it’s not about where you are, it’s about your trajectory, and he’s kind of come from nowhere and he’s suddenly going to be someone people are talking about.”

Here’s everything you need to know about the Australian comedian and actor.

Campbell was born in the early 90s, though his precise date of birth remains unknown. He was raised in Queensland and has revealed he was notably small during his childhood years.

During an interview with The Guardian, he made a frank revelation about how his parents contemplated putting him on growth hormone treatment.

The piece states: “His boyish, slightly vulnerable demeanour might be explained, he ventures, by the fact that ‘I was very small growing up’ – a feature he thinks contributed to his pursuing comedy.”

It went on to quote the star as saying: “My parents were legitimately going to give me horse hormones to make me grow, because I was really small for a long time.” He resided in Brisbane between the ages of 17 and 21 before moving to Sydney, ultimately making the UK his home in 2022.

Whilst living in Australia, he created a short series which aired on Comedy Central Australia and made guest appearances on ABC TV’s The Checkout.

He became a regular weekly contributor on Triple J radio and starred in the web-series Dayne’s World.

Following his successful application for a global talent visa in 2022, he relocated to the UK and performed at the renowned Edinburgh Festival Fringe that same year, claiming the festival’s top honour.

The year after, he appeared on the popular Channel 4 gameshow Taskmaster, which he ultimately won as well.

Campbell boasts some intriguing credits on his CV, having portrayed Cletus in the 2016 horror film Red Christmas.
