Junior Andre has said his mother, Katie Price, “crushed” his dreams of being a professional footballer as he recalls her comments after he was scouted for a professional team

Junior Andre has revealed that he wanted to be a footballer as a child and was even scouted, but his dreams were “crushed” by his mother Katie. Junior, 20, said his mum told him he was “not good enough” play professionally.

He is now looking to be an actor and a musician like his dad, Peter Andre. But as a child, he wanted to be a footballer until his mother said he shouldn’t. On the Not My Bagg podcast, Junior joked that Katie’s words had a huge impact on him.

“My mum crushed my dreams,” he said. “She watched me play once and she says, ‘Junior, let’s be real, you’re not gonna be a footballer. You’re not good enough. Don’t worry, you’re gonna be an entertainer’.”

He added that he did also have an interest in music and acting but also said that he played in A Saturday league and got scouted. “I used to play every week and I loved it. When I was young I got scouted at Millwall, and I had a trial and Brighton and Chelsea and I was loving it.” However, he then conceded that he “was never actually really that good” and was instead “just above average”.

Taking his mother’s advice that he should be “an entertainer”, Junior has recently made his acting debut in a film called Finding My Voice. The film also stars his father, Peter, and EastEnders star Michelle Ryan. He has also been working on music and was seen recording a song in an episode of his sister’s reality TV show The Princess Diaries.

During the show, Junior also revealed that he had been working in an area outside of fame as well. He said he had been working full time for Transport For London while sorting out “differences” with his record label. He explained: “It’s been hard, you know I’ve obviously had to do nine-to-five, Monday to Friday.

“I found a night job basically just working on the London underground, grafting, lifting heavy metals, cutting, filing, painting. I got them jobs so I could do my music career, so I could fund it.”

Princess shared that she was proud of her brother for making it work. “So proud of Junior, his last two singles went in at number one , but while he was sorting differences out with his label he went to work through the nights and work a full time job so he was fully self sufficient,” she said. “Which I’m super proud of.”

Elsewhere in the show, the siblings opened up about their elder brother Harvey Price. Over the years, Harvey, who has Prader-Willi Syndrome, septo-optic dysplasia and autism, has been subjected to cruel trolling, but Junior and Princess said he is surrounded by love.

“Today is going to be quite a fun day, I’m going out with my two older brothers, Junior and Harvey,” Princess said in the episode. She added: “We’re going to take Harvey on the train because he loves trains, so this is going to be a cute little day out – I feel like we don’t do it enough.”

In a heartbreaking admission to the camera, Junior added: “Harvey is the best person so it’s sad when people have horrible things to say. He gets so many abusive disgusting comments online. And he can’t even defend himself. The good thing is he won’t read it. But for those around him, it’s not nice at all. He is surrounded by love, love is all he knows.”

Katie Price’s representative’s were contacted for comment about Junior’s statement.
