For the uninitiated, Taylor is currently at the centre of a highly-publicised controversy over an ongoing domestic violence investigation involving her and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. Amid this, ABC cancelled the Season 22 premiere of The Bachelorette after a 2023 video featuring Taylor attacking ex, Dakota, in the presence of her daughter, Indy, leaked. Now, Taylor gets another shock as she lost a custody battle to Dakota.

Amid the ongoing domestic assault row, Taylor’s ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, had requested the court for their 2-year-old son, Ever’s temporary protection. According to a report by TMZ, Dakota won the case, and a protective order has been granted. The same outlet also reported that Taylor won’t be allowed to see her son, Ever, until April 2026. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Dakota would have the temporary custody of Ever, at least till April 7, 2026. Until then, Taylor strictly needs to stay 100 feet away from Dakota and his home. On February 19, 2026, Dakota told the court about a ‘chaotic’ and ‘frightening’ recent incident in which Taylor choked him.

According to a report by TMZ, the next scheduled hearing about Taylor and Dakota’s son, Ever’s custody case has been scheduled on April 7, 2026. During the hearing, Taylor can present her side of the story. Along with the recent attack, Dakota also cited a past attack in 2023. This is the same video where Taylor attacked Dakota with a chair, while her daughter, Indy, was present inside the room. Whether The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star would get back her son, Ever’s custody depends on the April 7, 2026, hearing and also on the ongoing investigations by the Draper City Police Department and the Utah Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS).

“Honestly, just like, my heart hurts to see it, to go through it, especially at this time. Just the timing is hard, and it’s a big deal. I feel like every premiere that I’ve experienced, I’ve never enjoyed fully, so this is another one… it’s extremely hard, and it took everything to get me here today. I’m struggling for sure, but also at the same time I feel like if I don’t show up, then I’m just giving these opportunities away and not enjoying what we’ve worked on and something super exciting that’s coming.”
