Joseph Duggar’s legal troubles have increased after his wife, Kendra Duggar, was reportedly taken into custody in Arkansas. The new update has shocked the fans since the couple has been arrested in relation to misdoings with a minor, making their charges more serious. While new courtroom developments from the investigation continue to emerge, the law enforcement officials made it clear that the duo’s fame will not be considered in the ruling. According to the reports by TMZ and KNWA/FOX24, Kendra Duggar was taken into custody in Washington County after the authorities issued a warrant against her. Authorities initially tried to find her at the Duggar family home, but later arrested her on new charges. She is facing serious charges, including endangering the welfare of a minor and false imprisonment. Notably, Kendra’s arrest comes just days after Joseph Duggar was taken into custody, increasing scrutiny around them. 

On the other hand, Joseph Duggar’s legal stance has shifted following his recent court appearance. During his Zoom hearing, he waived his right to contest extradition and agreed to be transferred to Florida, where the primary allegations against him were made. The case under investigation in Florida is related to the accusations of lewd and Lascivious conduct involving a minor under the age of 12 during his family trip in 2020. Subsequently, by exercising his right to extradition, Joseph has expedited the legal process and allowed Florida authorities to take up to 30 days to secure his custody from Arkansas. 

Meanwhile, legal experts believe that waiving extradition can sometimes be a strategic move to co-ordinate in the proceedings or to expedite resolution. However, it also means that Joseph would now face the charges in the jurisdiction where the alleged incidents took place, intensifying the legal battle. Additionally, he is facing multiple counts, including endangering the welfare of a minor and false imprisonment. But it is important to know that the Arkansas case is separate from the Florida investigation.

Will Joseph Duggar’s celebrity status affect the legal investigation against him? 

Amid the new developments, the law enforcement department has highlighted the seriousness of charges against Joseph Duggar and his wife. The Bay County Sheriff, Tommy Ford, who is presiding over the case, clarified that Joseph’s public profile will not influence the case. Meanwhile, the authorities are releasing only limited details about the victim due to the sensitive nature of the case. In his words:

“I don’t care if he’s got a TV show, or who he is, or what he’s done. He’s committed an illegal act, and he’s going to be held accountable for that.”
