Nancy Guthrie’s heartbroken daughter, Savannah, who is one of the most famous news anchors in the US, has appealed for more help to bring back her missing 84-year-old mother
Nancy Guthrie’s devastated family have once again appealed for help from locals, as the chilling disappearance of their missing mother reaches its seventh week. Nancy, 84, is the mum of one of the US’s most famous news anchors, Savannah Guthrie, with the NBC host and her family pleading for help to bring Nancy home.
It’s believed mother-of-three Nancy was kidnapped from her Catalina Foothills home in the early hours of February 1, with a suspect captured on the doorbell camera of her multi-million-dollar property. Last night (Saturday, March 21), during a KVOA News 4 Tucson special, Savannah, 54, released a joint statement with her two siblings and their respective spouses.
Despite a major investigation, 40,000 police tips, FBI involvement and a horrific discovery showing Nancy’s blood on her front porch, authorities appear to be no closer to locating the missing OAP.

In the half-hour special TV show, Bring Her Home, Savannah said: “We are deeply grateful for the outpouring from neighbours, friends and the people of Tucson.” The statement began as they issued a defiant five-word declaration, “We are all family now.
“We continue to believe it is Tucsonans, and the greater southern Arizona community, that hold the key to finding a resolution in this case,” the statement began.
“Someone knows something. It’s possible a member of this community has information that they do not even realize is significant. We hope people search their memories, especially around the key timelines of January 31 and the early morning hours of February 1, as well as the late evening of January 11.
“We desperately ask this community for renewed attention to our mom’s case — please consult camera footage, journal notes, text messages, observations or conversations that in retrospect may hold significance. No detail is too small. It may be the key.”
The statement ended with another plea for Nancy’s safe return home so that her family can celebrate her life. “We miss our mom with every breath and we cannot be in peace until she is home. We cannot grieve; we can only ache and wonder.
“Our focus is solely on finding her and bringing her home. We want to celebrate her beautiful and courageous life. But we cannot do that until she is brought to a final place of rest. Thank you for continuing to pray without ceasing.” The statement was signed off “The Guthrie Family,” listing “Camron and Kristine, Annie and Tommaso, and Savannah and Michael.”
A nationwide search has given clues, including DNA evidence and alleged ransom notes, but still no suspect has been identified in the investigation. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, who has been leading the investigation with the help of the FBI, has said the authorities hypothesise that the 84-year-old was taken in a targeted kidnapping, but they are “not 100% sure of that”.
In February, video footage was released by police, which showed a masked suspect outside Nancy Guthrie’s home. The figure could be seen tampering with the camera, with police believing they were armed. Neighbours have been asked to check their own surveillance footage from the night, as well as other dates in the lead-up, in the hope that they may find some clue as to who it was, and where she was taken.
Meanwhile, retired FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer believes detectives working on the case need to give the public more details in order to protect public safety, amid fears that more than one person is involved. She said: “There is a kidnapper (at least 1) and a potential murderer (maybe more) on the streets. Who will be their next target?”
