President Donald Trump has reshared a sketch from Saturday Night Live UK, mocking Prime Minister Keir Starmer after the show launched on Sky One over the weekend

Donald Trump has posted a Saturday Night Live UK sketch – mocking Keir Starmer. The President shared the video clip on his Truth Social platform but didn’t include any context with his post.

The sketch aired last night as part of the launch of the UK edition of the American comedy show. The show opened with a general view of 10 Downing Street, before cast member George Fouracres appeared as the Prime Minister, alongside Hammed Animashaun, who was playing Deputy Prime Minister, David Lammy.

During the sketch, Keir attempts to avoid a phone call with Trump, saying: “Oh golly, what if Donald shouts at me? What do I say, Lammy?” Lammy responded: “Just be yourself, Prime Minister. Yourself is who everyone likes,” after the live studio audience erupted into laughter.

George, playing Keir picked up the phone and put on a voice mocking Trump, saying: “Hello,” before hanging up, adding: “Oh sod that scary, scary, wonderful President. Why is he so bloody difficult to talk to?”

“Sir, just be honest and tell him we can’t send any more ships to the Strait of Hormuz,” Lammy said, referencing the fact that Iran has effectively blocked the oil shipping channel due to the ongoing conflict with the US and Israel. “I just hate conflict so much,” the Prime Minister said.

Lammy responded: “Are you referring to the war, or just this phone call?” Keir responded: “Isn’t there a way I can not do both? I just want to keep him happy, Lammy. You don’t understand him like I do – I can change him.” “I don’t think the feeling’s mutual,” responded Lammy.

The PM added that he was “out of his depth”. Throughout a back-and-forth, set in the Prime Minister’s office, Keir said: “How did Liz Truss make this job look so easy?” The sketch also referenced Trump calling Keir a “coward”, before introducing the new Gen Z, advisor, played by Jack Shep, who is named Starmzy – a reference to rapper Stormzy.

As the sketch wraps up, Keir is given advice by Starmzy on how to set boundaries with Trump, and the video posted by the US president ends with Keir saying: “I’ll do anything, except take a stand.” Trump and the Prime Minister were among the notable figures referenced in the sketch show, which also included impersonations of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, and Sir Winston Churchill.

Elsewhere, the show, hosted by American actress and comic Tina Fey, also touched on the ongoing scandal surrounding Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. During the Weekend Update segment, Ania Magliano said: “Renovations to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s new home, Marsh Farm, have been taking place over the last month, including the installation of Sky TV.

“So, if you’re watching this Andrew, hello! You’re not gonna like this next bit,” before talking about Andrew’s new home and the police investigation. Andrew was arrested on his birthday last month on suspicion of misconduct in public office, before being released 11 hours later.

He strongly denies all allegations against him. Derry Girls icon Nicola Coughlan asked why Tina Fey, an American, was fronting the UK launch, rather than a “British icon,” such as Sir David Beckham, Dame Judi Dench… Or Shrek, with Tina responding: “The way it was explained to me was for this first episode anyway, none of you f**kers would do it, does that make sense?” Graham Norton made an appearance and explained to Tina that the studio is where he usually films his own chat show.
