Jon Bernthal and his eldest child, Henry, have formed a bond through boxing

As mentioned, Jon Bernthal tied the knot with Erin Angle in 2010. The duo’s eldest son, Henry, was born a year after their marriage in 2011. Apart from his work on films and television, Jon has also been boxing at the same time, and Henry has also developed an interest in the same field. Jon even enrolled Henry in jiu-jitsu class when the latter was a child, and they have additionally formed a close bond through boxing. 

The New York Times stated in 2025 that Jon and Henry have even become close friends with their similar passion for boxing. However, the outlet stated that the duo’s distance has increased for some time, and this has reportedly left Jon heartbroken. During his conversation with The New York Times in 2025, Jon Bernthal said that although his son has been involved with something natural, he is concerned about the same. Despite all these things, Jon has continued sharing posts dedicated to his son on social media.

Jon Bernthal’s second child, Billy, has been playing other games

Jon Bernthal and Erin Angle welcomed their second son, Billy, in 2013. Billy has also joined jiu-jitsu classes like his brother and has been playing football and basketball at the same time. Jon has even posted glimpses of Billy’s football games on certain occasions. Moreover, Bernthal has ensured to spend time with his children as much as possible, and he opened up about an incident on Halloween while speaking to Esquire magazine in 2018. Notably, Jon was supposed to leave for a trip after Halloween, and his children were sad about it.

Jon told Esquire magazine that he wants his children not to consider kindness as a sign of weakness. During the Halloween night that Jon was speaking about, the entire family entered a haunted house created by a man who was working for the special effects department in Hollywood. The situation took a different turn when Billy punched a man, appearing as a ghoul holding a chainsaw, in the testicles. The incident happened when the individual jumped out at Billy. Jon apologized to the man and told Billy that the man was pretending to be someone who was not good. Addressing the moment, Jon said that he was satisfied with the fact that his son was not afraid of anything.

Jon Bernthal’s daughter, Adeline, battled a health issue in the past

In 2015, Jon Bernthal and Erin Angle welcomed their third child, Adeline. However, Adeline was in a coma two years after her birth. She initially had a seizure. The doctors later revealed that Adeline was suffering from encephalitis. While Jon was supposed to get back to his work, he left everything and stayed beside his child. Notably, Adeline was unable to recognize her family members at first when she was conscious. Jon has been posting glimpses of his daughter on social media over the years. While speaking to The New York Times in 2025, Jon said that Adeline is spending most of her time making paper cranes and enjoying herself at a horse ranch.
