Filmmaker Karan Johar recently addressed the growing issue of clickbait culture. He urged media houses to be more responsible while reporting statements from interviews and podcasts.
He shared, “I want to politely speak of Click bait headlines…. Lots of us give interviews and podcasts and we are happy to do so… but to take a line from an interview and quote it out of context is just click bait and makes one vary of speaking at all… this is a humble request to NOT quote a line that twists the relevance of the statement made with integrity as opposed to sounding personal, offensive or sensational…..”
Johar stated that such headlines not only sensationalise content but also risk making statements appear personal or offensive, even when they were made with integrity. He added that this trend makes individuals wary of speaking openly in public forums.
Calling it a “humble request,” the filmmaker urged media platforms to avoid twisting narratives for attention and instead present conversations in their true context. His note has since resonated with many in the industry, as debates around responsible journalism and click-driven content continue to grow.

On the professional front, Karan’s production house is gearing up for Naagzilla, starring Kartik Aaryan. It will be released theatrically and then premiered on OTT.
