LaGuardia Crash, Late Pilot And Co-Pilot Tried To Save 72 Passengers, Survivors Reveal, ‘The Heroes’

An Air Canada flight and a fire truck’s deadly collision at the LaGuardia airport in New York City claimed the lives of the pilot and co-pilot and injured more than 30 people. It so happened that on March 22, 2026, the Jazz aviation flight, which was operating on behalf of Air Canada, was landing on runway four of the LaGuardia airport, and it struck an aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicle, causing the collision.

Several glimpses surfaced on social media, leaving everyone in utter shock. Later, it was revealed that the pilot and the co-pilot were dead, and 32 out of 41 passengers were admitted to the hospital. Two people from the fire truck were injured, as reported, while the rest were stable. The passengers are now mourning the demise of the pilot and the co-pilot, whom they tagged as ‘heroes’ of the day, as they couldn’t be saved but worked till the end to save the rest of the passengers.

How did the Air Canada flight crash into a fire truck?

It was on March 22, 2026, when the Air Canada flight was flying from Montreal toward the LaGuardia airport, while a United plane hadn’t taken off from the airport and was facing troubles with the flight attendees surrfering from a bad odour in the cabin, leading the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey dispatched a fire and rescue truck to help the United plane. In the audio clips that surfaced, it was heard that an air controller gave permission to the truck to cross runway 4; however, another controller was heard screaming, ‘Stop, stop, stop, stop. Truck 1, stop, stop, stop.’

Passengers recall how the pilot and co-pilot saved the passengers

However, the deadliest collision took place, killing the pilot and co-pilot. A passenger, who was in the exit seat, revealed that it was announced that if the flight had an emergency exit, the passengers would have to exit immediately. The passenger, who is a nurse by profession, recalled the grinding sound as the plane crashed. She revealed how every other passenger thought they would die, but they were also helping each other as she opened the emergency exit.

The passenger, with a broken voice, acknowledged the late pilot and co-pilot, stating that they had braked to try to slow the plane down ahead of the crash, thereby protecting the 72 passengers and four crew members, although they couldn’t save themselves. The passenger could be quoted as saying:

“I’m just so appreciative that they were able to save us, but I’m just so sad that they weren’t able to make it home to their families. I wouldn’t be here had it not been for the pilot acting quickly.”

A flight attendant named Solange Tremblay could be saved, and her daughter felt it was a miracle. It so happened that Solange was strapped to her seat behind the pilots during the time of the crash, which led her to be found at the jump seat near the plane, with multiple bone fractures and a broken foot. Reportedly, those who were admitted to the hospital have been released, while a sergeant and an officer reportedly suffered broken limbs but are now in a stable condition. Another passenger, who was travelling with his fiancee, recalled the pilots’ efforts to save the passengers, calling them the heroes. The passenger shared:

“I fully believe that these two pilots, who unfortunately lost their lives, did everything in their power to stop the plane and slow it down at the very last minute. They deserve all the credit for being heroes that day.”
