A rock star from New Found Glory has had to undergo emergency brain surgery after doctors discovered three tumours following a CT scan
A rock star has revealed he had to undergo surgery to remove three tumours in his brain. New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert, who had been diagnosed with rare adrenal cancer in 2021, had to go to A&E in February this year following a fall.
The 45-year-old musician suffered a weakness in his leg just days after he had struggled to control his left hand while performing in Nashville. Chad has now said a CT scan showed he had three tumours in his brain.
He said he had to undergo emergency surgery to remove the tumours and thankfully states the operation was a success. Since then, he says he has felt improvements almost immediately.

In his Instagram post, he said: “I regained function of my left hand immediately. My radiation oncologist described it like this: ‘this is not a fatal blow and not the end of your story, just the beginning of a new chapter’.”
He went on: “My recovery has been bumpy at times but I’m feeling much better now and getting stronger by the day” before thanking everyone for their kind messages.

“More stories to come when my brain is working well again,” he said. “Love you all and am looking forward to sharing more music and fun with you as we come out of this.”
Chad shared a number of shocking images alongside his post, including him in a hospital bed with wires attached. However, there was also a snap of him looking in better spirits as he held a message from his daughter, four.
His latest health issues come after years of medical struggles. Chad was initially diagnosed with cancer in December 2021 after his wife discovered him unconscious at their home. At the time, medical professionals found a substantial tumour on his adrenal gland that had metastasised to his liver.
Medics removed the mass along with half his liver and gallbladder. He was deemed cancer-free the next month, but sadly in August of that year the disease reappeared in his spine.
He was required to have a surgical procedure to extract a vertebra and substitute it with an artificial disc. A year later, additional nodules were found in his lungs which led to the star having aggressive chemotherapy.
New Found Glory catapulted to fame in the late 90s. They hit the mainstream with their third album Sticks and Stones. Since their rise, they have been acknowledged by a number of groups who have named them as a source of inspiration.
