Commuters are facing major delays across Sydney’s transport network, with the metro completely shut down and disruptions to the train system after a severe storm swept through the city.

Sydney metro services are not running on the M1 line due to a power supply issue between Barangaroo and Victoria Cross stations.

Heavy rail train services are also not running on the T1 North Shore line between Gordon and North Sydney stations in both directions “due to severe weather conditions affecting infrastructure”, Transport for NSW said.

It said replacement buses are not available at this time, and urged passengers to delay travel if possible or consider using other options.

There are also delays on the T1 Western Line, T2 Leppington & Inner West Line, T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line and T5 Cumberland Line.
